Cask - The Whalebone, Norwich. Poured amber with a bit of a haze and a lasting, frothy white head. Yeast, mild diacetyl and some caramel with a hint of toasted malt managing to struggle through. Damp yeast, an apple tang and a light grassy bitterness. Soft palate texture, slight carbonation, light to medium in body with a short finish. Could’ve been in better condition to put it nicely.

Cask @ 3 Judges. Orange colour, white head. Aroma is buttery and biscuit. Flavour is buttery, some malts, a bit watery. Slight bitter finish. Dyacetyl all over the place. Very poor.

cask at JdW ... standing order ... amber ... thin white head ... light toffee malt... soft juicy fruity hop ... little woody ... little caramel ... easy but dull

Cask @ Bon Accord. Golden brown colour. I like the idea of a 3% ale but this one disappoints because of it’s nasty sweet fag ash flavour which leaves an unpleasant aftertaste.

Handpull at the Blackfriar Pub in Blackfriars EC4. Clear dark Amber, bright White fine bubbled head, good lace.Looks stunning!! Sweet buttery smell with some floral notes and strong lemony end. Distinct Caledonian nose. Lovely sweet bitter balance and very quaffable! Lovely pale ale!

Cask at Wellington Arms, Bedford. Dark gold with a small white head. Some sulphur in the aroma, almost obscuring a sweet buttery background. Not a good start. The taste, however, was perfectly acceptable if not very exciting: a weak sugary sweetness with a touch of sourness and slight bitterness.
