2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 BlackHaddock (2432) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - APR 29, 2013
Two hand-pulled pints in ’The Barley’, a modern refurbished pub in Newport, Shropshire on 27 Apr 2013.
Light golden body with an off-white head which started off thin and got thinner by the second.
No huge aroma: a blend of biscuity malts and floral hops almost cancelled each other out.
The taste was fairly bland I’m afraid: some malt semi-sweetness and a hop content that tried to add some bitterness, but overall it didn’t do it for me, even though I had two pints, just to make sure. Mildly citrus towards the end of each sip, but nothing strong or robust about the beer at all.
Mid-bodied and OK as a session beer I suppose, just lacked the umph I’d have liked.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Kavu (1589) - Helsinki, FINLAND - APR 22, 2013

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 bobroman (80) - Torun, POLAND - APR 2, 2013
Cask. Not so good aroma, maybe cask was open for too long. Golden colour with long-lasting head. Not very intensive bitternes in taste with well balanced biscuit sweetness.

Golden with no head. Has an ordinary malty aroma but also tasty biscuit notes within its flavour.

2.2 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 undercurrent25 (896) - Barnton, Cheshire, ENGLAND - MAR 17, 2013
This beer had a nasy aroma of stale farts, I’m unsure what causes this as I’ve had it with a few beers, maybe it’s a type of hop or malt which causes it. The rest of beer was fine, taste was medium bitter
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 BeerCast_Rich (1714) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - FEB 8, 2013
[cask at the Caledonian Brewery, Edinburgh] Pour is clear as a bell, large fluffy white head. Looks very inviting. Aroma is faintly sweet and musty, like hay in a loft after a long summer. The taste, surprisingly, is similar. Backed up by that trademark caramelised sweetspot flavour I just don’t get on with, the whole thing finishes just too sweet for my taste [31012013]
3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 prawlie (870) - Berkshire, ENGLAND - FEB 7, 2013
Pint at the Allied Arms in Reading. Amber golden, a light cloudy, good bubbly head. Light, dry, biscuit, hint of currant. Tastes fairly good. Aroma very faint.
