On tap at Sigler’s in Chattanooga as "Dead Horse" with 6.0% ABV.
Clear but opaque and essentially black body. Near medium body and soft, medium-light carbonation.
Adequate dark roasted grain flavor and aroma, but weaker than the Tallgrass Buffalo Sweat that preceded this. On the other hand, this has more obvious hops. The flavor has coffee in the finish and a touch of dark chocolate.

Deep ruby almost black. Hops, roasted malts, caramel and dough. Smooth palate, fresh hops, chewy malts, pine and dough.

Pint on tap. Near black and surprisingly uncloudy with a small ring of bubbles. Mild nose of cocoa, toast and clove. Tastes of husky grain, dry wheat, clove and scorched corn. Near-medium body has low carbonation and a nice balance.

Muddy brown, flat body. Feint debittered malted aroma with a touch of phenols. Scharzbier-like smoothness to the body, powdered with cocoa dust. On the sweet side.

Tasted on draft at the 12 South Winter Warmer in 2011. Pours cloudy dark brown-orange with an average beige head that leaves thin, spotty lace. The nose is nutty brown sugar and oatmeal with light bitterness. The flavor is brown sugar, caramel, and a hint of maple up front, with a hint of cinnamon and herbal bitterness. The body is medium with average carbonation and a medium, lightly bitter brown sugar and caramel finish.

Sweet, brown, like the j henry but more roast and less malt. More Icy and cool, almost minty, lots of dark brown sugar flavor. On tap at the 12 South Winter Warmer beer festival in Nashville, TN.
