COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
When life gives you real fire brewed maple syrup in bulk, we make a really dark robust elixir. Maple Rye Stout is true to its name with maple and rye both starring in this Calfkiller concoction. Sure to warm the soul.

UPDATED: OCT 6, 2011 Lots of maple aroma, very woodsy on the nose. Flavor is a little hot and spicy, maple is very subtle. A very intriguing but still easy drinking brew.

Tasted on 10/18/11 from a growler purchased at Midtown. Pours opaque, dark brown, with a thick tan head that slowly recedes to thin, uneven lace. The nose is full of dark chocolate, coffee, darkly roasted malt, brown sugar, and a spicy rye character. The flavor is more of the same, with tons of rye bread spices, dark chocolate, coffee, and brown sugar. The body is medium with average carbonation, and a long, spicy rye, dark chocolate, and lightly bitter coffee finish.

Growler. Served at around 45F.

Pours very dark brown to black with a one finger brown head that recedes to a light wispy cap leaving a few spots of lacing behind.

Aroma is coffee, roasted malts, some dark chocolate, a touch of rye and only a hint of maple. Good to very good strength.

Flavor is chocolate, coffee, roasted malt, a little dark fruit, the maple comes through nicely on the flavor, especially toward the finish, rather sweet but some citrus hops are there at the end. Very little noticeable alcohol.

Mouthfeel is on the light side of medium bodied, a bit creamy, good carbonation.

Nice sweet stout with a great aroma and full of flavor. Very easy drinking and glad to have had the chance to try it!
