Cali Colsch is a continental mash-up. We ferment California grown base malt with Kolsch yeast from Cologne, Germany. The malt shines through with hints of wheat and fresh barley. The yeast adds levels of complexity and notes of peach and pear, similar to the finish of a white wine. American and European noble hops give our beer an assertive hop character while still keeping it drinkable. A sessionable beer to enjoy in sun or shade alike. Pair with light or creamy cheese, fruits and salad, chicken or seafood.

a style I’m usually not a fan of, but this is a cool, if not traditional, example. A touch fruitier than expected - pear? - with a grainy flavor and nose, and a crisp finish.

Pours a finger and a half of head on a hazy light straw body. The aroma is mild fruits. The taste is mild lemon and grapefruit bitter, a little pear and apple sweetness. The texture is softer. Fine.

22 oz. bottle from Whole Foods. Starts with a pleasant, pale bready malt forward taste. Hops add balance, offsetting the crisp grain character and providing some dryness to the finish. Clean, refreshing aftertaste. Well balanced, crisp and super drinkable.

Nice color although the aroma wasn't anything special. Tastes good too if you are looking for a light beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft shared with Linh, will and Caroline. Pours a clear yellow with thin white head. Aroma is grassy hop, sweet faint honey and grains. Mouthfeel is crisp and light with sweet honey and grass. Some grains and light bitterness on the palate.

Bomber from Hayduke that we had together via facebook chat. This beer is very clear golden and has just a little carbonation visible. A white head becomes a ring after a few minutes. The aroma is faint but it does offer complexity. I get grain and fruitiness. Too bad it is not bigger. First sip is very Kolsch like. Soft grains and honey to start. Nothing big at all. The after taste is citrus and fruit and is long and slow to fade. I tasted west coast hops until almost the end and then European hops were tasted. Some spiced popped up, too. This beer is eminently drinkable and there is just nothing to dislike. It is a Kolsch which should be, and is, made of more subtle flavors. This one also brings some nice surprises and all of them are pleasant.

Bomber shared with Strykzone on Facebook Chat. Pours clear gold with a small white head. Very light lacing. Nose is grain with some floral and citrus hops and fruit. Medium body. Smooth mouth feel. Flavor is rich grainy malt with the fruit on the front, and citrus in back. Lots of flavor in the crisp finish and some spiciness. Very nice for the style.

From bomber to stange. Aromas of wheat malt, lemon and bready yeast. Pours a clear yellow with massive carbonation and full white head. Malt takes center stage with overt noble hops as well. Thinnish mouthfeel. Slightly dry finish and moderate low bitterness. All around pleasurable.

22 ounce bottle purchased at Nugget in Woodland, CA. The aroma has corn, DMS, and some boiled veggies. A little floral, not much else. Mild to moderately hazy dark yellow body with a small, off-yellow head present. This starts extremely carbonated, before a little bread comes through in the middle. Finishes with an overly hoppy, dry, bitter grassy finish. There’s really not much about this that reminds me of a Kolsch. It’s a mess.

Golden colour with light head. Nice tasting beer with very light hoppy finish and a light fizz. Tasty beer, will drink again. (K)
