COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Not your traditional brown ale. This is a big, bad, bold brown. It’s the intersection of a cabernet and an IPA. Or, say, 19th and Broadway. A blend of three oaks added during fermentation creates a red wine-like structure. California Cascade hops bring the local flavor that goes from roasted and bitter on first swig to a soulful, chocolate finish. Generally speaking, not for wussies. But who are we to say?

Bottle - tasting @ Willows. Pours hazy chestnut brown with a small tan head and decent lacing. Aroma is nutty, caramel, toffee. Flavor has some oak, but really malty, nutty. Medium sweet, light bitterness. Medium body. Above average for a brown ale.

Tap: Clear dark brown. Solid head. Roasted malt. Coffee. Brown spice. Medium sweet. Not sour. Moderate bitterness. Cleanly fruity palate. Roasted and smokey. Bitter finish lingers. Good clean brown ale but this style is. to for me.

Rich dark brown beer with coffee colored head. Cinnamon aromas and coffee flavors make this brown beer a well balanced beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours reddish brown with a thin white head. Aroma is malt , but hop comes through vigorously in the flavor. It's a bit much for a Brown Ale. Still quite good, medium bodied brew. I'd have it again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Dark red brown color with a small head. Caramel and roasted potato aroma. Flavor is a pleasant balance of bitter and sweet. Refreshing finish. It’s delicious.

Quite a nice brown ale. Pours a very interesting purple brown. Smells of coffee and vanilla. Taste is similar, coffee and vanilla, with a quite hoppy finish. Had at tap at the Bay Area Craft Beer Festival ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Aroma of roasted malts, caramel, chocolate, toffee. Deep brown color with creamy khaki head leaving irregular lacing. Taste: metallic, biscuit, sweet with light bitterness. Roasty. Medium body, lively carbonation, oily texture a little on the thin side. Overall: this is okay. Improves as it goes on. The chocolate/roasted sweetness comes through nicely after nursing it for awhile. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Dark brown color with a tan head. Smells of hops and malts. Tastes strongly of malts and hops with a strong hoppy finish that is fizzy on the tongue. Not bad but not great.

Had this on tap at Lanesplitter. Clear Brown pour with small tan head. Nose was burnt. The malts were burnt throughout. Watery body. Bitter finish. Bad batch? I might have to try again.
