2010 Autumn Festival of Ales. I thought this was going to be big on the Wasabi, but I’m glad it was not. Some malt and plenty of hops detected in there also. Still would not drink much of this.

Draft at Cali Rollin - Take this beer out of the sushi bar and I wouldn’t even give it a second taste. It’s thoroughly unremarkable UNTIL you pair it with sushi rolls. It’s a nearly perfect match for any tuna, eel or mackerel roll. A fine example of matching beer with cusine.

2005 on tap at Cali Rollin’ Sushi Bar. Pours golden with medium carbonation. Aroma of barley and eastern spices. Goes amazing with great sushi as ClarkVV and Bucknaked both pointed out. Wasbi undertones are subtle with soy rounding out the circle of flavors. I would drink this beer without sushi but the entire sushi experience at the restaurant is what makes this brew so special. Also good for saki bombs while singing Tiny Dancer.

UPDATED: AUG 22, 2007 At California Rollin in Rochester. I couldn’t really smell the wasabi, but I really did like the beer. Clean flavor with some hops. Very flat though, which was probably the restaurants fault. Overall I thought it went well with the food and was quite enjoyable.

UPDATED: DEC 7, 2008 [draft - 2004 Autumn Festival of Ales - Honeoye Falls, NY] Bitter aroma of hops and a little malt with a very slight spicy hint of wasabi. Bitter flavor with a smooth malt backbone and finish. Couldn’t really taste the wasabi. Very flat.

Tap: (Brewed by Custom Brewcrafters) This beer does go great with sushi, as ClarkVV already noted. Aroma: Bitter, hops, slight wasabi. Flavor: Bitter, crisp, sweet finish, very suble. Very crisp, enjoyable beer.

A very good beer with sushi! Find this one at California rollin in Village Gate Square, Rochester. This beer has a pleasant bitter nose on it, with (suprise) wasabi notes. Very subtle though, not what I was expecting. Finishes like a wonderful APA should. A very meaty beer, with a clean flavor and even hopping.

Not a great weiss - no character,
no estery notes. Mild flavor.
Wasabe addition was undetectable.
Too bad- I was hoping for something
good and unique.
