Calvors ’Amber’ is our most unique tasting lager. It has a lovely nutty taste with a slight bitter finish!
Calvors ’Amber’ contains a blend of light and dark malts creating a distinctive depth of malt aroma and flavour.
Try with pork, chicken, lamb and tomato based sauces.

UPDATED: FEB 19, 2012 330ml bottle, best before end 010212, drunk on 1 January 2012. Quite dark amber colour. Not much head. Mellow malty aroma - more nutty and even a little smoky than biscuity/bready. More of the same on the palate. A little sweet but there is a light, tangy hop presence. Maybe a little papery. Middle of the road - quite decent for a British lager I suppose, but a bit thin.

Bottle 330ml. @ chriso [ chrisos festive get-together tasting ].

Clear medium yellow amber - orange colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, dusty, earthy. Flavour is moderate sweet with a average duration, toffee, earthy. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20111230]

An amber colored pour. Slight white head that fades into nothing in a few seconds. No lacing. Big corn smell. Like dried corn. And corn husks. Tastes the same, with a very bitter bite. Tastes like throwing maize into your mouth. Aftertaste is the same. But more along the lines of roasted corn. Not the best beer I’ve ever had.

Bottle at home in London, shared with Lyoli. Pours crystal clear, deep gold with a moderate, white head. Aroma has come bready malts, faint caramel and grape-like fruits. Medium sweet flavor, toasty bread malts, faint bitterness perhaps of leaves, caramel, sugar. Light bodied with average carbonation. Basic finish, toasty malts and sugar, caramel, mild bitterness. An easy drinking beer. Very basic overall. I like this stuff.

Mid amber coloured, clear and bright, thin head, and low carbonation. Aroma of wet sack. Mixture of too much DMS and 4 vinyl guanicine. Flavour is similar to the aroma but less intense and supported by thin malty flavour. No discernible hop character. Bit horrible
