3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 justm (163) - Essex, ENGLAND - APR 12, 2012
Bottle bought at Baileys Delicatessen, Beccles. Pours a dark amber, a little ruby red with a carbonated off-white head. The aroma is quite a rich malty chocolate with a little sweet fruitiness. Light and a touch oily over the tongue, the initial taste is yeasty and slightly fruity then a malty dusting of cocoa sweetness appears which gradually fades into a cheap chocolate aftertaste. I’m genuinely stunned by this beer, as I was expecting much more of a caramel taste but it’s the chocolate and malty flavours that shine here. Rather good and from Suffolk (where I’m staying as I write this review) too.

Dark copper/brown color. Light tan, small, head that quickly turns to a thin layer of bubbles. No lacing. Malty aromas with a roasted nut character. A slight bit of vanilla. Very sharp carbonic bite up front. Follow that up with a bit of sweet maltiness. Pretty watered down roasted flavor. Thin. It’s alright.
