Botle. Frothy off-white fair mostly deminishing head. Black colour. Heavy malty and light hoppy aroma. Licorice! Light bitter flavor. Wet licorice notes. Average light bitter finish. Oily palate.

33cl bb11/2014, "Die wilden Cambas" 9 sampler. Pours a watery black with thick beigish foam. Unappealing earthy, salty and chlorine nose, almost off. Taste is faint and equally unappealing, with some goodwill, conflicted waterered down roast and earthy nuts, missing many of the simple spicy charms of Grandpa’s traditional Schwarzbier. Hard to finish, as tastes unfinished. Uniform labeling for this series could use a fresh kick as well.

Typical german Schwarzbier. Pours dark brown, develops a quickly disappearing light brown head. Slightly malty but a bit metallic aroma. Weak mouth feel without any noticable highlights. Short finish. In this rare case I would prefer a TV beer: the Köstritzer Schwarzbier.

Bottled. A dark brown beer with a lazing tan head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, bread, and caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of caramel, butterscotch, bread, and ro9asted malt, leading to a bitter finish.
