Floral sweetish malty nose. The beer starts earthy malty, very dry with lots of fruit. Dry body, great Ale-like body. Dusty dry with lots of pine and resin. Moderate dry bitter in the aftertaste. Great!

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
@Sternen, Freiburg. Delicious and layered nose of - as announced - lychee, grapefruit, hints of elderflowers and orange marmelade. Full bodied, with a lot of caramel, even some licorice hints and loads of orange marmelade. Slightly one-dimensional compared to the nose, but perfectly smooth for this abv and with a good bitter finish.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours haze golden amber color, with unstable foamy white head.
They used 5 american hops, 4 of them for aroma: and it is strong, without note of an alcohol, just gentle hints of mango, papaya, lychee, grapefruit and red orange.
Similar is flavor: without note of an alcohol, but with fruity notes of hops: grapefruit, lychee, mango, etc.
Sweetness of malts is discrete hidden behind fruity esters of hops, but still you can detect biscuit like sweetness of malt.
It is medium, also hop biterness.
Carbonation is low, body is soft, texture is gentle smoothy.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
33cl bb02/2016, Maruhn. - Boozy quasi-DIPA without the booziness and a German grainy body makes for a confusingly clean, lean high-octane EU-IPA. Greenish honey pour, smells sweetish of fresh tangerine, caramalt, some chlorophyl and treesap. Taste upfront sweet, then resinous like reduced quince marmelade, with a distinct German graininess (Pilsner malt?) at its core. Oily but clean sticky mouthfeel, candied pine nectar with a lingering bitter finish. - - Considering the 8% there is not as much expression in aroma or evolution in the taste as you’d expect. - - Interesting how both this beer and my palate have evolved since this was still one of Germany’s only IPAs called "Eric’s IPA"...

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
330 ml bottle bought at Great Food Hall in Pacific Place, Admiralty.
Looks: Translucent straw amber with no yeast sediments; Less than one-quarter finger head with soapy white foam which fades in 10 seconds; Fair sticky lacing and zero carbonation.
Aroma: Lightly fragrant Ale malt, with orange, floral, light honey, faint mango, very light pine, light lemon and very light grass.
Taste: Close to medium sweet moderate Ale malt, with grains, grapefruit extracts, light orange, sugar, moderate pine, strong resin strong spices, light biscuits, strong lime, quite strong bitter hops and fair grass.
Body: Medium body. Thick, slick and oozy palate.
Mouth Feel: Moderate Ale maltyness in a thick background. Grainy taste is evident. Hops tastes like grapefruits and orange are subtle at first but come on strong as beer warms. Strong non-cloying sweetness. Strong ooze and moderate pine. Very spicy; Booze can be felt throughout but not that strong. Limey hops to round. Strange but alright.
Hoppiness: Light scent of orange, floral, light honey, faint mango, very light pine in nose. Grapefruit, orange, pine, strong ooze, strong spices, strong lime and grass in taste; Bitterness is fairly sharp and increasingly strong for a lasting, moderate to high astringent finish.
After Taste: Fairly dry. Oozy and sharp bitter to mouth.
Comments: All the nice West Coast hops are featured, but the result is very underwhelming: the fruity aroma is very low-fi, and taste-wise, while getting stronger with further sips, are really not up to the expectation. At 8% abv this may suggest a quasi-IIPA, but the end result is no better than an average APA. Disappointing.
