4.5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 promontor (37) - HUNGARY - MAY 26, 2012
On tap at Sörspecialista. Starts wih wonderful aromas, floral and fruity (berries and grapes). Colour is dark gold, maybe a bit reddish. Nice and persistent head, a bit creamy. Taste is again wonderful, biiter as an IPA, but also has a lot of complexity, spicy citrus, some other fruits e.g. grapes. Has a bit more bread and sweetness than other IPAs and also has a very nice and persistent bittersweet aftertaste. A very memorable IPA wih a Bavarian touch and I like this combo very much.

I have tasted the beer twice. Once at the Camba Bavaria, which was a perfect drinking experience. Second time in a bottel, which was obviously stored wrongly and the beer was too old. So I try to find some average. Eric’s IPA is, fresh from Tap, probably the best IPA from Germany. Incredible, very American style (no wonder, Eric is a American brewmaster brewing in Bavaria). But is also seems to be a beer that does not like to travel. Drink it where it is brewed! That’s perfect!
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 bartlebier (449) - Baden-Württemberg, GERMANY - MAR 6, 2013
new 33cl bottles (50cl before), same green design, this time labeled as Camba IPA (Eric is mentioned on the back, though) - This must be hands-down the most authentic IPA brewed on German soil at the moment. It is true to the style, from the full, round and nearly chewable malt base to the bitter but harmonious hop profile, and leaves behind all those others jumping on the IPA-train by creating slightly exotically hopped Keller&Vollbiere (usual suspects) as entry-level Pilsners. Even by US standards, this is a great bitter-hopped IPA with a tasty malt profile. My only quarrel with it is that is rather a DIPA, clocking in at 8 ABV, which makes it slightly alcoholic and less easy to drink with a meal than a normal IPA. Lower the ABV below 7 and this becomes scary teutonic IPA perfection - just don’t tell the Bavarians! (they invited a US brewer anyway, so I guess they cheated)?
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 McTapps (1460) - Ruhrgebiet, GERMANY - FEB 10, 2013
So I ordered quite some IPAs online and I must admit quite a few of the American ones were a little bit disappointing. So I had some thoughts before opening this bottle but got quickly really happy. This one is a real fine IPA with no real bitterness at all. It has got a milky amber-orange colour with steady head and crisp body. Nose is little bit too weak but still full IPA-ish. Taste of strong hops, pepper, coriander, cardamom, mild chili and red rice. Really delicious and easy to drink. Great one.

Bottle at Jan & Charlottes tasting, Ulfborg, Denmark 09.04.11 cheers Jan & Charlotte This hazy yellow in appearance with a nice white filming across the top. Lovely IPA aroma. Quite strong in the mouth but easy drinking, hoppy but not overly hoppy. Some piney hops and a little citrus show, nice fruitiness. Very drinkable, little hoppy burps, very tasty beer. 4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Thomasalias (259) - Budapest, HUNGARY - FEB 4, 2012
UPDATED: MAY 23, 2012 On tap at Sörspecialista, Budapest. Hazy dark red color with light brown head. American hoppy odor. Typical American IPA aroma (citrus, piney, herbs) with a very little caramel because of the caramel malt. It has a spicy, dry, resiny flavour too. Medium bitter taste with a little sweetness. Light body with slick-creamy texture and lively carbonation. Bitter hoppy, spicy finish. Very delicious beer, spicy, fruity, resiny. A light but delicious IPA.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 stevoj (910) - Ramstein-Miesenbach, GERMANY - APR 28, 2013
Nicely executed IPA from Bavaria. Nice sharp but smooth hoppy aroma and taste, perfect mouthfeel and lingering bitterness on the lips and palate. Hops blend perfectl with the brew, not overpowering.
