COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

UPDATED: MAR 25, 2014 Had one with the new bottle design. This was so terrible I didn’t even finish it. Smelled like nail polish remover, tasted like astringent sweet blerg. Shocking, since some of their other beers are quite good. It did look nice in the glass at least.

Bottle, 9.8%. Citric berry aroma. Black colour. Big stable brown head. The flavour is roasted and sweet with a jammy berry note. Mild blackcurrant. Late roasted note, quite alcoholic with alcohol and barley bitterness.

Bottle from McTapps & MichaelAwesome - thank you! Pours cloudy very dark coffee brown with airy but stable light tan head. Clear aroma of chocolate, coffee, malt and liquorice. Sweet flavour of chocolate and liquorice, with notes of malt and coffee, and bitter, roasty touches. Dry aftertaste. Okay, quite decent, but nothing revolutionary.

Bottle from Hopfen & Malz, Berlin. Black pour with little head, aroma is coffee and caramel sweetness. Taste is coffee, dark chocolate, some sweetness, moderate carbonation and a bittersweet finish. Nice, but could be more assertive and full-bodied

Bottle [thanks to my Euro Secret Summer Santa] @ home. Opaque pitch black color, medium sized light brown head that diminishes quite quickly but leaves good lacing. Aroma is malts, a light roastyness, but I don’t get a lot more. Taste is a bit disappointing imo: malts, dark malts, only lightly bitter. Overall a bit flat and average, not nearly as full as I had expected and hoped. Some work to do imo.
