COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Im Zuge der Gegenreformation rief der bayer. Kurfürst Maximilian I. Paulanermönche in sein Land.

Bottle shared at Chrisso’s May 2014 tasting 25/05/2014. Bottle from getranke oase in Munchen. Dark orange / caramel coloured pour with a lasting loose off white head. Aroma is nutty, berry, sweet caramel malts, slight stale. Flavour is nutty caramel, caramel, sweet, slightly stale malts, hint of vanilla and choc. Palate is flat and dull - lowish carbonation. So so.

33cl bottle bb08/2014, "Die Wilden Cambas" sampler. Translucent, watery amber pour with lacklustre collapsing head. Malty aromas of vegemite, nut and old honey syrup. Tastewise not very bright either, presenting a limited range of tired nutty and honey notes on a superficial, all-upfront palate. Very disappointing for a modern interpretation amped to 8,5% and, as with many Cambas tasted so far, not meriting its provocative name, as not all that "wild" or even all that engaged. Finished with this after 3 sips..having me actually long for a textured old school Bock,

Tasting at the ever gracious ChrisO’s. Stop sniggering at the back and pay attention! What we have here is a hazy amber beer with a tidy pale cream colour head. Palate is airy and light and a little soft. Superfine carbonation. Sweetish malts, touch of cream. Light tangy dried fruits. Light finish. Not too bad.

Bottle: Aroma is malt, alcohol and sugar. Hazy brown color, low head. Flavor is malty with sugar, candie, caramel, toffee and light roastiness. Bit boring.

Thanks to Fergus for this smutty beverage. Best enjoyed during the act of self love he says.... It pours clear ruby-amber with a medium beige head. The nose is toasty, dried fruits, brown bread, fruit cake and caramel. The taste is toasty, malt-driven, wood, orange peel, grapefruit, muffin, booze and peppery spice with a dry finish. Medium body and high carbonation. Pretty sweet and malty. So-so, great name though.....

mile (2992) - Helsinki, FINLAND - APR 24, 2014
Bottle. Amber, small and fully diminishing head. Moderate to full, malty and sweetish aroma, caramel and light bread, light dark fruits and alcohol. Body is medium to full, malty and sweetish flavor, some caramel and light bread with faint dark fruits, light alcohol. Finish is average, malty and lightly sweetish - sweetish, some caramel and faint bread, light alcohol. Sweetish doppelbock with caramel. 8,5% makes the finish bit drier. For those with sweet tooth.
