COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Im Zuge der Gegenreformation rief der bayer. Kurfürst Maximilian I. Paulanermönche in sein Land.

On tap at YNWA, Kolding. Hazy chestnut colour with a lasting off-white head. Malty aroma of biscuit and bread crust, with a faint metallic note. Malty sweet flavour with a fruity touch. Slightly thin - lacks the depth of the best doppelbocks, but at least isn’t sweet like the worst.

Tap @ YNWA, Kolding.
Pours clear, nice deep red with a small, off-white film head. Disappears fast. Aroma is sweet, some caramel, toasted, mild chocolate. Medium, prickly carbonation, fine light and mild oily palate. Flavour is sweet, caramel, lightly toasted, a hint of chocolate. Rather sweet and malty overall. Fairly vinious, light strawberry. Okay doppelbock.

Draught at Bjergtrolden. Clear redbrown with a small head. Aroma heavy malty (caramel, fruity, roasted). Flavor moderate+ sweet, light to medium bitter. Body medium to full, soft carbonated, some alcohol felt. Nice.

Naja... 12/8/7/9/9/9

500 ml bottle. From biershop-bayern.de.
Reddish amber colour with small white head. Very Bocky aroma with lots of strong Baltic Lager alcohol and some dissolvent added. Flavour is strong mixture of Bock and alcohol. I don’t dig this.

Dark red-brown colored with small light brown head. Sweet, slightly alcoholic aroma with thin nutty note, some grains also here. Medium to full bodied. Flavor is also very sweet in start, caramel and thin lemon here. Aftertaste is sweet still, with nuts and some alcohol lasting. Well, not fuly balanced doppelbock.

MoritzF (8402) - Bochum, GERMANY - OCT 11, 2010
(swing top bottle) Slightly hazy, dark brown colour with a beige and short foamy head. Slightly sugary toast-malty aroma with notes of caramel/Bavarian Blockmalz-bonbons, accompanied by shy herbal spices and notes of alcohol. Sweet flavour, full bodied with a very calm, even a bit flat carbonation. Robust toasty malty taste with caramel and notes of molasses; sweetish and slightly toasty and faint hop bitter finish with caramel and hints of alcohol in the aftertaste. Not overly convincing Doppelbock, at least by Camba Bavaria Standards. 29.IX.10
