Delirium (418), Santa Cruz, California, USA Jul 19, 2006 Draught. The glass is quite dark amber with a small white head. Aroma is mostly malty, slightly sweet and with noticeable smokiness. Flavor is similar, but with more pronounced smokiness and a bit of bitterness. Not really sure what to make of this; unusual for an amber ale, but on the whole it’s pretty good.
Oakes (6819), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Jun 30, 2008 Amber-red colour with a thick head. Chocolatey aroma with caramel. Very toasty palate; dry & breadcrusty. Good balance. jhumphries69 (507), Tyrone, Georgia, USA Jun 18, 2008 On draft at the brewpub. This beer was a medium brown in color and had a small, almost non-existent, tan head. The aroma was biscuits and crystal malt. The flavor was nice - nutty with some caramel. The hop presence was low, and the bitterness in the end was also low. The mouthfeel is medium-full and creamy. Overall, a decent beer, but not hoppy enough to be an American Amber - perhaps Southern English Brown Ale would have been a more appropriate appelation? howie (530), DeForest, Wisconsin, USA Nov 12, 2007 Very dark amber body. Great aroma for an amber - nutty, toasty, with a full complement of American hops. Nicely balanced. bu11zeye (3628), Frisco, Texas, USA Nov 8, 2007 (Draught) Pours a deep amber body with a moderate off-white head. Aroma of caramel, nuts, toastiness, and a hint of cocoa. Flavor of nuts, molasses, and grassy hops with a sticky mouthfeel and a bitter finish. Allie (40), USA Oct 23, 2007 I had a pint from the tap at CBC. Appearance was excellent, a very dark amber color with a nice foamy head that lasted well. Aroma was interesting, strong and sweet with a trace of licorice. The flavor was rich and smoky with fair hoppiness. This was hoppier than some other ambers I’ve had. Carbonation OK. Palate was a bit watery, but there was some fizziness on the throat going down. A good beer, though I liked their Regatta Golden better.
