22 oz. bottle shared by bsuedekum- thanks again, Blake! Pours a cloudy, rich amber color with a small beige head. Peat character comes through immediately in the aroma, followed by lots of fruits (plum, dried fruits), earth/wood, and caramel malts. The flavor is also peaty and fruity initially, with caramel malts, brown sugar, and warming booze. Classic Scotch character. Comes across as even bigger than 8.7% ABV. Medium-full bodied, with a peaty, warming mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. Really cool.

22oz bottle in a thistle. Pours very deep ruby with a lacy, light tan head. Aroma of caramel, nutty, and some doughy malts, plus a good amount of hops. Flavor about the same, with a good blend of everything. Smooth, thicker texture. A pretty good beer.

Malt, caramel, nuts, and a little funk in the aroma. Flavor starts sweet, with malt, roast, and a little caramel. Just a little bitterness and drying alcohol in the finish. Really good. I’m drinking this on a warm day, but I think it would really shine as a winter beer.

Bottle to snifter. Looks good; brown with lacing. Smells okay, but not pleasant. Tastes alright, but nothing special. Mouthfeel is average. I probably wouldn’t seek this out.

Reviewed from notes.
Pours a deep brown with a bit of a crimson hue. Nose is good fruit with some light chocolate plus toffee and caramel. The flavor is nice and brings in some dark fruits alongside a balanced sweetness. Good feel that is neither cloying nor boozy. Drinks well and is a nice all around beer.
