COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Belgian-style Honey Ale
Brewed with imported Continental malt, honey from local bee-geniuses Reseska Apiaries in Holliston, Ma., and fermented with an unusual Belgian yeast strain, then conditioned for several weeks before its release. It professes a complex nose and palate hinting at wildflowers, spices, and herbs, with honey and malt flavors commingling with the yeast’s phenolic spicy character and finishing with a peppery dryness and a distinct note of fresh honey. One half of this beer has been laid down in French oak chardonnay barrels atop fresh organic sour cherries, where it will referment with wild yeasts and age until it reveals to the brewers its desire to be served. Patience…

Consumed without proper notes during the EBF weekend. Ordered with the intent of tasting some actual honey notes, but sadly it didn’t pull through. Not much going on here and I didn’t even bother to finish the glass.

Reviewed from notes. Pours a moderate golden color with a white head, though not as large or with as much retention as I would expect. Nose is light honey, fruit, spice, and some yeast. The taste is lightly fruity but lets the yeast shine. Good feel with nice carbonation. Serving type: on-tap Reviewed on: 11-03-2010

On tap at Cambridge Brewing Co in Boston. Slightly cloudy golden amber color with small foamy head. Sweet honey and malt aromas. Flavor is slightly floral, with noticeable honey. 8.5% alc is not that noticeable. Very nice beer.

Fairy liquid soapy aromas with a wheaty edge. Oh so Belgian in the mouth with lovely savoury and rustic flavours. Very light for it’s percentage - amazingly so. Banana yeast and mango pulpiness. Well balanced and hearty. A surprising beer, the honey exists but does not dominate. A bit too soapy?

A cognac amber ale with a thin white head. A nice honey pollen aroma, grassy, mandarine notes, viscous and alcohol warmth. In mouth, a very sweet mead like beverage, a bit thin, sweet oranges and honey. On tap at brewpub, April 4, 2010.

Tap at ACBF. Just a basic, sweet Belgian for me, apparently a saison. Vague honey notes, some yeast, wheat...sweet and pretty dull.

Aroma is of honey and sweetness. Flavor is sweet but not honey, more caramel or even some butter scotch. Not sure what to make of this beer.

Draft at ACBF09. Pours a light orange with a small head. Aroma of honey and yeast. Flavor of sweet Belgian yeast, and melon. Not too much honey really (thankfully) and somewhat of a surprise. Decent beer. 7/4/7/4/14 (3.6/5)

Tap at the ACBF 2009: This brewer is hit or miss. Light golden pour with a white film of head. Sweet doughy aroma with honeyish character all around. Fluffy body but very sweet flavor. Biscuity Belgian pale malt base that’s bombarded with residual sugars and honey flavors all over. Eh- typically overly sweet American Saison.
