On tap at the brewpub: Orange brown with a slight hazy look and no head. Orange citrus aroma, smooth mouth feel, ends slightly sweet and with a grainy character.

Tap flight at the brewery. This taster came out with a dark golden, light amber pour with the THICKEST head I have ever seen in a taster glass and quite possibly ANY beer glass. It literally flowed over the edge like the crust on a pot pie our a soufflé, rising about an inch over the glass and even draping over the side like a beret without dripping down. Unbelievable. 5. The lacing is like the spray on bed liner in a pick up truck. Rediculous. Aroma of sweat socks 4. Taste is very hoppy but propped up by a sturdy malt backbone. The familiar coffee roast flavor of CBCs beers is present here, too. Almost reminds me of Mikkeller Coffee IPA. 9. Chewey in the mouth. 4. Delightful. 17.

A Mes rate. Tap at Cambridge. Hazy pale brown with a thin off white head. Excellent spicy hops with a slight citric twang. Delicate bitterness. Drinks below its strength. Good length. Good beer.

On tap at the source.
Pours a slightly hazy golden to amber color with a decent off white head that displays moderate retention and minimal lace. Smells of citrus, lots of grapefruit and juicy floral hops. Bready toasty malt provides enough of a backbone to keep this in check. Taste is slightly harsh in bitterness with a bunch of pine and citrus. Malts sweep in bready caramel and toasty to balance this out a little. Medium body and carbonation level with a slick resinous mouthfeel. I enjoyed this one its a nice flavorful IPA.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Thorpe429 (3823) - Alexandria, Virginia, USA - APR 13, 2011
Reviewed from notes.
Pours a nice amber color with a good head and nice lacing. The nose brings some sharp citrus hops as well as some floral notes, which then lead into a moderate malty sweetness. Taste is not quite as powerful and the hops lose a bit of their edge. At the same time, the feel is pretty bitter and balances the sweetness well. Drinks quite well and is certainly a strong ale.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Roonai (128) - - MAR 16, 2011
On tap at CBC during EBF. Poured a medium depth orangey brow. Smelled of sweet grains and hops, pure. Taste was a smooth malt with the presence of hops without causing a bitter palate. Hard to describe because it has the flavors you would expect, but was done well.

On tap at the brewpub. Poured a clear golden amber with a gray head that dissipated slowly to the edges and laced slightly. Aroma had a combination of citrus and pine on the nose with a bit of backing resin and a caramel backbone. Flavor began with cereal and caramel with a growing citrus note that had a bit of pine bitterness in the finish.

Pours dark with sweet notes of malt on the nose but a nice hit of hops to keep it even. The hops really comes out during the mid palate and finished nicely with the citrus/spice notes.
