3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Tap @ CBC... Poured cloudy orange with a thin white head. Earthy vegetable notes with warming alcohol on the nose. Soft, mildly carbonated palate. Hopes were low in profile with very sweet flavors like caramel malts, vanilla, light fruits, and a thick honey-like, syrup consistency. A nice, warming, alcohol finish.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draft at the brewpub. Poured a clear medium to dark orange color. The head was off white and left some lace on the glass. The aroma consisted of some light buttery toffee, a whiff of dark fruits, and distinct oak. Medium bodied, perhaps lightened up a bit by the 11.7% ABV. Sticky in the mouth and semi-sweet. Pleasant flavor profile that included layers of honey, toffee, buttery caramel, subdued vanilla, and flowery hops. Good stuff.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
2005 Vintage on tap at CBC at the 2009 Barleywine Festival. Body is a dark cloudy caramel color with almost no head. Smells like old dish water, dried plums and orange soda. Pallate was watery and flat with very little carbonation left, and just traces of alcohol on my lips. Flavors of maple syrup, red wine reductions and dried apricots and plums are most prevalent. Nice balance and really a welcome and desirable aftertaste with some roasted malty notes that linger.
