Sampled at EBF. Holy sour cherries! Even if you were to have a cold I’m sure you’d still be able to taste/smell the cherries here, they’re just right up in your face. Good sour fruit balance.

On tap at Cambridge Brewing. Pours deep cloudy red-tinged mahogany into a snifter. Off-white head recedes to hug rim. Almond, cherry and pinot aromas. Crisp with oak and sour almonds, cherry and funk. Sour, sour and deep sourness. This is awesome.

Aroma definitely has a lot of sourness, but pronounced notes of Pinot noir grape aroma... Flavor smacks you in the face with sourness..... Definitely get a lot of Pinot Noir wine flavor, but sourness sticks out... Very good beer, similar to the lambics and gueuzes I had in Belgium... Definitely has notes of cherries and hints of oak... Great beer....

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Ah my most sought-after beer by far. Pours hazy dark brown with a amber shine and a small tan head. Aroma is sulphorish, wooden, dark cherry and mild acidic. Light citric note. Wooden, citric to acetic, dark malty, deep cherry flavour. Rather "dark" in flavoured. Smooth, overripe cherries and almost caramelish. Light vanilla and tannin touch. Dry, lingering wooden and smooth persistint dark cherry. Stunning!

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
On draft at the brewpub. Huge aroma here, tart and lightly sweet with notable cherry character, wood, a faint hint of vinegar, red grape, some light banana esters in the background, just extremely enticing. Opaque, deep dark red-brown in color, very minimal head. Flavor is an amazing amalgamation of tart, lightly sweet fruit (cherry, grape, stone fruit), oak, vanilla, incredibly profound tartness, wood and tannins, finishing dry, with lingering earthy, woody tones. Wow. Palate is low in carbonation, warming, acidic, just so utterly dry, body is medium-full. This is incredible stuff, I’m not really sure my rating does it much justice.

Pretty cloudy purple to brown beer, very aery small light brown head, unstable and non adhesive, disappears completely quite fast. Aroma: alcohol, cherry liquor, earthy, tobacco, wood, lactobacillus. Mf: no carbon, medium to full body. Taste: very sour start, earthy, sour cherries, tobacco, lemon juice, sour raspberries. Aftertaste: sour cherries, vinegar (red wine), earthy dryness, more lemon. Very tangy and pungent.

Tap at brewery. Aroma of dry sour cherries, leather, a touch of medicine, leather. Oude bruin. Bright cherry sourness. Dusty cocoa. Complex. Well balanced fruit parfait sweetness balanced by a pleasant yogurt sour unripened dark pit fruit sourness. Nice.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Tap, brewpub. Pours a cloudy purple brown body with a thin ring of off-white head. The nose is wonderfully tart and fruity with lots of sour cherry, some light wood, and a nice touch of acetic acid helps out giving it a touch of brightness. Perfectly tart and woody with great sour cherry, with that slight touch of acetic to liven things up. The woody notes are great on the finish mixing with a cherry pit tannic note that is pretty awesome. Very vinous. Maybe a light touch of chocolate on the finish. Mouthfeel is bright and tart with a very high level of drinkability, not tiring in it’s acidity. Very nice beer, worth the visit just for this.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Reviewed from notes. Pours a garnet color with some brown streaks. Off white head with a bit of lacing as it falls. The nose brings forward a bit of some really nice sour cherries along with a mild acetic character and some mild funk. Quite good. The flavor is a bit more tart without as much cherry. Mostly some intense sourness and tartness with perhaps a bit too much acetic acid, which carries over into the mouthfeel. Really dry, sour finish. Drinks pretty well and is something I’d definitely have again, if for nothing other than to get back at that nose.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
The beer pours a medium pink color, almost red with a light pink head but no retention or lacing.
The aroma is pretty light but balanced showing off some really nice sourness and some sweet cherries.
The taste is awesome. It is super super sour, much more than the aroma would indicate but, its not so sour you can’t drink it. It finishes with a great cherry taste with funk.
The feel is very nice with a dry finish.
Overall, this is one of the top three beers from EBF, it really should have been at NoTB. It was perfectly sour but the cherries brought enough to the table to balance it out and make it totally drinkable. I would actively search out this beer.
