Oakes (6776), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Jun 30, 2008 Dark brown. Cocoa and fudge aroma with toastiness. Starts with a nice chocolate/coffee note but gets burnt, tannic and astringent late. Has a full body and finishes dry, but it’s still a bit harsh. jhumphries69 (485), Tyrone, Georgia, USA Jun 18, 2008 On draft at the brewpub. The aroma is dark and very roasty - like French Roast coffee beans. The flavor is rich and strong. There is a lot of coffee in there - easily enough to identify this as a stout if I had not seen the beer’s name and style ahead of time. There is a subtle smokiness, an even more subtle note of biscuits and caramel malts, and a balanced, bitter finish. The mouthfeel was rich, full, and creamy in texture. Overall, this was one of the best and most drinkable brews I sampled - a good porter, but a great American Stout. T2Tool (248), Murfreesboro, Tennessee, USA May 15, 2008 Had on tap at the brewpub. Poured a dark brown color with faint aroma of caramel and chocolate. Taste was of roasted malts and caramel with a light coffee flavor involved. pantanap (659), Chicago, Illinois, USA Apr 25, 2008 draft from brewpub..... pours a dark brown with reddish hues at the edges which was accomanied by an off-white head at the edges...... aroma of simplistic chocolate and roasted malt..... flavor of chocolate and a nice degree of roastiness.carbonation level was just about which contributed overall to the enjoyment of the brew. Slipstream (297), USA Apr 14, 2008 Light, hoppy aroma. Nice smoky, coffee flavor. This solid porter reminded me of a light stout. It probably should not be served so cold.
