3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Reviewed from notes. Poured from a growler at the forum during the Night of the Funk. The beer itself is a crimson brown with an off white head and some very slight lacing as it goes down. The nose reminds me of an older, slightly-oxidized barleywine that has had a portion of light kriek added to it and then was soured. There’s a bit of sherry notes in there as well, though these are more in the nose. The flavor brings more cherry and lactic sourness. Medium body with a good puckering quality. Overall, really nice and enjoyable.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pour from a Growler at NOTF ’10 Forum.
Apparently this was a Blend of Cerise Cassee and Blunderbuss among other things. Aroma was sour, lactic, a lot of Cerise poking through, with rich, decandent malty notes as well barnyard funky with hay, earth, must, some dark cherry sour, vinous, a bit vinegary. Mouthfeel was robust, creamy. Flavor is a menagerie of sour cherry wood, toffee malt, earth, barnyard, spicy horsiness, vinegar. Very complex beer that is rich and exploding with flavor. Very cool.
