COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our own Charles River Porter conditioned in cask with chinese ginger syrup. Its fresh ginger dominated nose gives way to a palate balanced between roast and chocolate malt character and crystallized ginger flavor with an even finish.

NERAX 2005, on cask: Dark ruby with no head, gingerbread, molasses, and brown sugar in the aroma, medium bodied, soft carbonation, starts and ends lightly bitter, one of the better beers that I had at NERAX this year.

NERAX 2005 Brown in color with ruby highlights and no head. Aroma of ginger, mild roasted malt and some sweet sugars. Flavor was consistant with aroma with a touch of hop and roasted grain bitterness.

Cask @ NERAX. Good nose, ginger, roasty, peaty, chocolate and ginger. Blackish brown color, small brown head. Bitter flavors, Ginger rules the day with chocolate background. Full bodied, creamy smooth mouthfeel, smooth finish that again has a ginger bite. GInger, ginger, ginger, ginger. If you don’t like ginger you’d not of liked this. I thought it was good. People who tried it loved it or hated it.

Dark brown color, thick looking, probably opaque, with a whispy yellow/tan head, low retention. Aroma of ginger, silky chocolate and light yeast. The ginger does dominate, but the brewer makes no pretenses that it shouldnt. For all of that, it is quite a sweet ginger aroma, not astringent or horribly spicy. The flavor, again, is ginger dominated, and it is the focus, but I still thought there was enough chocolate and light roast, with some musty yeast notes, to give a bit more complexity. The body was exceptional, silky, lush and full. Though it was over the top, most people I was with gave it grudging respect. Certainly not a poorly made beer. Funny, because I can’t stand their regular porter.
