Draft at Elysian Great Pumpkin Beer Fest (GPBF) 08. Crystal clear bright pale orange. Thin white head. Mild pumpkin pie spice nose. Watery light body. Biscuity, pie-spice-y mid-palate. Flat, earthy hop finish. Deeply uninspired johnny-come-lately effort.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Beerlando (3342) - Orlando, Florida, USA - SEP 23, 2008
Draft at the brewpub. Pours a mostly clear, dark, pure amber color. A small, foamy, off-white head leaves behind minimal, soapy lacing. The aroma shows a strong cinnamon influence, with ginger, clove, cardamom, and heaps of fresh pumpkin flesh. Coriander is nowhere to be found, thank heavens. I don’t think that spice belongs anywhere near a pumpkin beer. The flavor shows a light caramel malt base, more fresh pumpkin, cinnamon, and very subtle, complimentary notes of clove and nutmeg. Medium bodied, despite the low ABV, this brew is smooth and sessionable. I usually despise pumpkin beers, but this is one I could drink a good bit of. Nice brew.

GABF 2007. A slightly hazy golden beer with a lazing white head. The aroma is sweet malty with spicy notes of cinnamon and more mixing in with notes of pumpkin. The flavor is sweet malty with spicy notes of cinnamon mixing with notes of pumpkin. The body is light. Not my thing with pumpkin in beer.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Allie (40) - USA - OCT 23, 2007
I had this in a small glass from a tap at CBC. It came to the table with very little head left. The color was very nice, a kind of copper-dark honey look. The aroma was slightly fruity, but I didn’t get much trace of pumpkin in it. The palate was fairly full, carbonation OK. The flavor was rather ’beery’ but rich and warm, with some fruitiness and a moderate hop tang--but, again, little real pumpkin taste. It was very smooth, a nice tail with no nasty dregs. OK overall, but something of a disappointment. If they’re going to call this a pumpkin, they need more pumpkin in it. I’ll take a Dogfish Head Pumpkin over this.

on tap at gabf. Smells like a pumpkin pie with buttery graham cracker crust, and tastes like it too! clearly going for the pumpkin pie flavor, this beer includes many pie spices, nice hefty palate, and great malt presence. a true delight.

Sampled with Stegosaurus during our second Boston Tour. Served at Cambridge brewing. Coppery clear pour. Some pumpkin in the aroma. Taste was watery with mild spice and pumpkin flavors fighting their way through this lack luster brew.

Delightful and refreshing beer for the Autumn season. Spices and malty sweetness greet the tounge. Admittedly a bit light and simple in composure, this beer is great to have on a night in Cambridge or to sip on while by a fire.
