COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A tripel brewed with pumpkins and aged in white wine barrelsKraftwerk represents yet another outside-the-box brew from your friends at CBC. The term not only means “power station” in German (a nod to this light-on-the-palate brew’s exceptional strength), but also refers to the seminal electronic musical group of the same name founded in Düsseldorf in 1970. Yeah, I guess we should have made an altbier instead. Finally, despite the misspelling, Kraftwerk refers to the handmade, artisanal nature of the beers produced at CBC. Kraftwerk is brewed in the style of a Belgian strong ale known as Tripel, but to it we have added hundreds of pounds of pumpkin, along with a very subtle addition of assorted autumnal spices. After a very warm fermentation with our house Belgian ale yeast, Kraftwerk was sent to the CBC Barrel Cellar to age for several months in sauvignon blanc barrels where the beer transmogrified into a striking beverage like no other. The result is a classic version of a traditional tripel, with subtle pumpkin flavors, and notes of oak and a white wine-like finish. The combination of esters from fermentation, barrel aging, and lingering wine character has created a beer with crazy fruitiness, a super dry and sparkling body, and a grape/stone fruit/tropical finish. Simply unlike any pumpkin beer you’ve ever had.

Lots of citrusy sour aroma from the Sauvignon blanc barrels... Flavor is very light and citrusy... Very faint notes of pumpkin, you could probably tell me that the pumpkin wasn’t there and I wouldn’t know the difference.. Knowing its there, I can taste the pumpkin... Very enjoyable beer... Definitely has some spices in it, but can’t pinpoint the pumpkin...

From tap at the brewpub. Pours hazy orange to yellow with a small white head. Aroma is citric, spiced and fruity. Fruity, quite fruity actually. Citric and yeasty. Mild acetic. Spiced, light bubblegum and mild caramelish note. Smooth fruity and mild citric finish. Wineous and smooth lingering grapes finish. Smooth carbonation mouthfeel. Very very elegant and different - lovely!
