COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A beer that could, in the vaguest sense, be considered a Belgian-style “Singel.” More than simply a low-alcohol table beer, however, L’amour du Jour brings a very rare finesse to the realm of the biere de table . Lovingly crafted of the finest FrancoBelgian pale malts and gently hopped with Saaz, it is finished with fragrant contributions of lavender, sweet orange, and jasmine flowers. At once unusual and yet very drinkable, L’amour du Jour offers a bright and crisp malty palate, followed by a balanced fruity finish with a lingering perfumed scent. Sound like CBC’s first ever “chick beer"? Perhaps, but any male secure enough in his masculinity will certainly impress with his ability to appreciate this flavorful, delicate, artisanal ale. À votre santé ! OG: 1.050 FG: 1.009

Light golden ale with a thin white head. Rosewater aroma. Same rosewater in mouth, no malt, no body, rather floral, but not my cup of tea. On tap at BCTC 2006.

BA BBF 06. Aroma: very spicy, yeast, and some malt. Taste is the same, with a spicy lightly bitter finish. weird but interesting.

BCTC 06 Pours a slightly cloudy yellow color with a ring of white lace. Aroma and flavor of peppery yeast, fruits, honey and spices. The body is medium with an oily texture and soft carbonation. It’s good but not too entertaining.

NERAX 2005 Golden in color with white lacing. Aroma an d flavor are supported by herbal and spicy characteristics. Mild citrus notes and floral hops.

Partly cloudy yellow with a very small white head. Smells nothing. Very thin body. Lighly fruity, some herbal spices, some sweetness, very little in terms of malt/hop character. Not bad, just blah. With all the great beers at BCTC 2006 this was far from my Love of the Day.

This one was very dissapointing. I am always into trying "unique" things. Lavender and flowers? Sign me up! I suppose I was expecting something like Amherst’s wonderful Heather Ale. This one was just thin and boring, perhaps a little too different and confusing.

On tap at the brew pub. Slightly milky color of beechwood with a thin layer of white, cloudy-like head. The aroma runs rampant with green italian pizza seasonings, including oregano, thme, and a pinch of dried rosemary. Creamy, milky mouthfeel with a light carbonation effervescence on the tongue. Pleasant, doughy palate feel of an herbed foccacia bread. The finish is clean and reshfreshing, with a lingering herbalness of spring salad with a light lemon zest. Very floral, but a bit of a contrast to the intense seasoning sensation found in the bouquet. Finsih is slightly dull, but quite tasty and well-proportioned overall.

On Tap at the brewpub. Clean clear pour of oranged gold, with a sweeping soapy head of clean white. Rich aromatic glow of tarragon vinegar with heavy soaps of coriander and clove and rosemary sprigs. Genuine. A slight mingling of floral italian pizza seasonings. Flavor is a sweet gentle floral breeze of tart lemons in stew, and a heart of pizza dough. Wafts of sweet grains in rose petals. Very ethereal, restricted with light smacks of tangerine and heavy rosemary. Quite efferevescent and bright. More dough. Some light lemon rinds. A little too thin bodied, but expectable.

Draught at CBC 5/22/06. Pours a light dull orange color with a small white fizzy head. Nose is lightly peppery and spicey with a hint of citrus fruit. Palate is lightly syrupy. Flavors of peppery spiciness, hints of honey and sugary sweetness. Finishes with a sticky palate.
