A soft luxurious rounded & creamy dark beer. Loaded with chocolate, coffee & treacle flavours. The taste is soft & rounded, having a good hop balance with a hint of orange

Dark, but almost no head. Nice mellow roasty aroma, dark, hinting at chocolate. Nice roasty body, but a bit flat in the body. Finish is long and roasty too. Suspect this wasn’t at peak condition.

Cask at GBBF 2014, 12/08/14. Pours a dark reddy brown with a tan head. Light, dark malt aroma with a light chocolate. Light to medium body, light carbonation. Light lemon, some light chocolate, a touch of coffee. It’s thin, not great.

Cask at GBBF ’14. Dark, dark brown, khaki head. Lovely. The aroma is surprisingly slight. Coffee seems to dominate over any chocolate/citrus aromas which are present but don’t really assert themselves. Taste us a little bit better. Bittersweet chocolate competes with a fruity bitter/sour. Thinner palette than I expected. Right amount of natural carbonation. Very short finish. Good overall but I was expecting more considering the description and the ABV. There just needs to be a bit more of everything.

UPDATED: AUG 18, 2014 Bottle shared by Fonefan at his place. Pitch black color, small beige to light brown head. Aroma has malts, dark malts, lightly something fruity that I totally didn’t expect. Taste malts, dark malts, just a slight fruity touch, a bit earthy. Average body, a bit low carbobated. [7-3-6-2-11=2.9] -- Re-rate August 2014: Sampled @ GBBF. Very dark brown to black color, small beige to light brown head. Aroma is mostly malts and roast, taste is malts, earthy, roasty, earthy bitter. I don’t get any of the orange if that is supposed to be in there. Average to medium body and carbonation.

Bottle shared with Tomer at CBC - Clerkenwell, London. Looks great. Pours thick black with a frothy, tan cream head. Moderate roasted dark malts in the nose. Medium sweet flavor, some bitter chocolate, perhaps a bit of fructose, modest earthy bitterness. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Light dryness on the finish with mellow char, cocoa, low bitterness. Very good stout, though I wouldn’t guess there was any orange involved.

Bottle, shared with Leighton, many thanks, small creamy head, quite opaque brown colour, aroma of cinamon, light coffee and dark bread, flavour of dark bread and malt, cocoa, dirt and some ripe oranges in the back. A bit different, nice and easy.
