Blessed be! Our ridiculously big, hoppy I.P.A. returns to the rapturous exaltations of worshippers far and near. Featuring Simcoe, Amarillo, and Columbus hops at an unheard of rate of over three pounds per barrel, with American pale and Belgian caramel malts providing a malty but dry pedestal upon which this hop fest rides until its long, lingering,hop-bittered finish. Beware this vengeful, Old-Testament God. Say your prayers…

A nice imperial red. Pours a muddy red with a disappearing white head. Smells of fruit, vanilla and hops Taste is similar, a good amount of vanilla with a well balanced bitter finish. Pairs well with rogue creamery smokey blue. Had in the bottle.

On tap at the brewery after EBF 2015. Pours a hazed tawny brown with a thin beige head. Malt, earthy hops. Medium bodied, sweet and boozy. The alcohol and the overly sweet malt are intrusive and dominating. Long bitter finish carrying over some of the sweetness from the malt. Too sweet for me to enjoy overmuch.

Tap at Track 84. Murky reddish pour with a frothy white head. Very malty, some sweatsock, grains. Not my kind of IPA.

Location: 22 oz bottle from Nikki’s Liquors, 4/16/15

Aroma: The aroma is a toffee/caramel, some strong hops as well, pine, resin, earth, and a little berry
Appearance: It pours a dark reddish color, with a small fizzy/frothy beige head and drippy/streaky lace
Flavor: Has a nice, pretty balanced, the malty flavor balances out the big hop bitterness nicely
Palate: The body is medium-plus, nice and smooth feel, soft carbonation, and a dry finish
Overall Impression: I really enjoyed this one. This is a very nice Imperial Red with a ton of flavor to it. It’s more bitter than it is malty, but the balance is there to make the flavor really quite nice. Heck of a beer. Nice job here by CBC.

Bottle. Red amber color. Aroma special malts, caramel, honey and fruit. Taste some wine, malts, dried fruit, warm and much bitterness in the aftertaste.

UPDATED: MAR 8, 2015 To those who think this beer has hidden glory in it, it doesn’t. It’s - ah - beer. And it is offensive for the brewery to describe it in terms of God humorous or not. Really? Theologically speaking, God is the Ultimate Judge. For some this may appear vengeful but it isn’t. His judgement even when He says "Vengeance is mine" is just - period. That said, on to the beer! The beer pours a cloudy red with a white head. The nose is rather faint - malt. The taste is not IPA with its smooth malt fullness up front and then the hops bitterness. It is not a red ale with its lighter body and less hops bitterness. It is an Imperial Ale that looks red - period. Nice drink but that is it. Why they called ir Red God and then said what they did is curious at the least.
