COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Release Date: Friday, December 18, 2009 Happy Birthday to our dear friend, Suzanne Schalow, General Manager of the Cambridge Common and Lizard Lounge. Yup, she’s 40! We’ve crafted this beer in her honor, at the request of her partner in crime, Kate Baker (the Keg Shaker), and we’re damn honored to brew it! It’s a well-known fact that our Cambridge Amber is one of her favorite beers, so we decided to turn the amplifier up a bit in order to make a beer which could match the impact she’s had on the local craft beer community. Essentially doubling the malt bill of Cambrigde Amber wasn’t enough – Suzanne’s also a hophead! So we hit it aggressively with Chinook, Amarillo, Columbus, and Simcoe hops in the kettle, and dry-hopped the heck out of it with over a pound-per-barrel of even more Simcoe. The result? A deep amber, unfiltered ale with a big hop aroma, tons of citrusy hops on the palate, and just enough sweet caramel malt notes to balance this monster. Beware the 7.75%abv, or you’ll understand why this beer is called Sledgehammer! Happy birthday, Suzanne, and keep livin’ the dream. We love you! Your pals, Will, Megan, Kevin, Ben, Phil, and everyone at CBC OG: 1.072 FG: 1.014 ABV: 7.75%%

A deep ruby red to brown ale with a thin creamy and lacing moka head. In aroma, a super fragrant hop with funky notes, blood oranges, almost meaty, pinhey, strange but good. In mouth, a delightful ale with good malts, pinhey and complex hops, very organic and funkey, fragrant, white grapefruits...a great b-day gift for Suzanne. On tap at brewpub, Dec. 28 2009.

SuIIy (1877) - Natick, Massachusetts, USA - DEC 31, 2009
Draft at Brewery. Described as an imperial version of the amber with more american hops added. Nose is hoppy up front with mostly piney, resiny hops apparent and a nutty malt background. Palate is full with a nice tickling fizz. Flavors are piney hop driven but their is a nice caramel, toffee, nut malt note that follows to balance out well. Finishes bitter with a sticky coating.
