COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
You want an IPA, you’ve got one, but with a twist. “Spring Training” breezes in like a breath of fresh air, ready to awaken your senses from a long, cold winter. Made from primarily Canadian pale malts, the recipe also incorporates Belgian carapils, aromatic and wheat malts to contribute to the beer’s complex body and straw-golden color. Ahtanum and Palisades hops were chosen for their essence of wildflowers and freshly-cut grass and to present a contrast to the piney, earthy and resiny characteristics of most IPAs. But don’t worry that these “pretty” hops won’t deliver a strong punch-in addition to extensive kettle hopping the beer is dry-hopped with 10 lbs of Ahtanums to blast your senses away.

Pours a clear yellow with a bit of white head that dissipates quickly. Smell is citrus and trees. Palate is medium bodied with good carbonation. Taste is bitter, then REALLY bitter, then a moderately bitter aftertaste. Decent overall.

Pours a cloudy yellow colour with a white head. Aroma of caramel, grass, cardboard and burnt bread. Flavour of caramel malts, grassy hops, floral notes and some berryish notes. Light bodied, slick mouthfeel and a bitter, slightly floral finish. Decent.

Lukaduke (1021) - Portland, Maine, USA - APR 11, 2013
Draft at Lord Hobo. Pours a crisp golden color with a finger or so of sticky foam. The nose is slightly sweet with nice malt backbone and bright floral citrus and grassy hops notes. The palate starts off quite nice with touches of juicy tropical fruit notes that quickly turn more grassy and herbal eventually bittering out and turning slightly volatile in the lingering finish. Nice, but nothing too special.

Large bottle. Pours a hazy golden with a white head. Very refreshing IPA. A bit on the lighter side of the IPA spectrum but well done and very drinkable.

Bottle from Muckey’s. Pours out a slightly hazy golden brew with a thin white head. Herbal-spice-malt aromas. Flavor is bready with some herbal stickiness. Drinks more like a hoppy golden ale than a true IPA. Body is medium to heavy and finish is long and sticky.

Pours slightly hazed gold into a shaker. Bright white soapy head recedes leaving spider lacing. Sweet resin aromas. Soft with tropical fruit and caramel upfront turning to resin in the lasting finish.

Pretty average IPA, but drinkable and enjoyable for summer nonetheless. A little watery, could use some backbone for a bit more taste. Average hops, all in all not bad.

Pawola22 (3109) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - APR 18, 2012
Pours a mostly clear golden colored body with a thin, frothy, white head that dissipates slowly and leaves a light lacing. Aroma is lighter with some floral fruits, a touch of caramel, and a light orange pine. Flavor is pretty citrusy up front with a slightly sweet orange pine and some floral fruits. A light caramel in the middle before the sweet pines and florals come in a bit more to dry this while still finishing a touch sweet with a moderate bitterness. Fairly lengthy aftertaste following a medium body and a moderate carbonation. Overall, an ok IPA. Solid flavor with a nice mix of floral fruits and citruses. Nothing special, but enjoyable.
