COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Yes it’s true, your friendly neighborhood brewers are no fans of strict style parameters. As we see it, beer should be flavor-forward first, and then shoehorned into a style later for anyone who needs it spelled out. Hence, we bring you a black imperial IPA. Brewed with malted rye and barley, it utilizes a specialty malt called CaraFa to deepen the color without adding roasty notes typically associated with dark beers like porters and stouts. Big, juicy, floral hops come first on the nose and then dominate the palate, as Simcoe and Chinook fight for first place. Hints of spicy malt poke through only to be overtaken by a very firm, drying hop bitterness which lingers on the palate. At 8% and a hopping rate of over 4.5 pounds per barrel, it’s only a little kinder and gentler than our friend Red God. Those of you who were privy to the Stone/BrewDog/CBC collaboration beer, Juxtaposition Imperial Black Pilsner, know where we’re coming from with this. Enjoy!

Tap at cbc. Aroma super toasty high percent cocoa dark chocolate balanced by a bright juicy grapefruit hop presence. A touch of walnut. Grass. Flavor is. Dry dark roast coffee with hint of juicy freshly diced tropical fruits. Flavorful, well balanced, great attenuation. Pleasure to drink. Nice one!

On tap at CBC. Pours a dark, dark brown with a 1/2" off tan head. Huge citrus hop aroma. Full palate with almost a creamy texture. Average to low carbonation. Big, grapefruit hop flavor with just enough malt to give some balance. Very nice.
