Draft. Faded, yellow/gold coloring. No head. Tangy, battery acid flavoring lingers far past initial taste. Spicy. Coriander readily apparent and overwhelms the floral and fruity undertones. Love it or hate it delivery. I hate it. Sampled @ BCTC 2007

Nose: banana, dough, cereal Appearance: golden, clear, Head: frothy, white foam, Taste: light sweetness, lightly bitter, Body: medium body, Texture: oily feel, average carbonation, Finish: astringent, A nice drink and deceptively alcoholic. It is an honor to be able to drink the first craft brewed American Tripel. Enjoy and praise God for this nectar.

22oz bottle in a Trappist glass. Pours orangish amber with a lacy, off-white head. Aroma of spicy yeast, some light fruits, and floral hops. The flavor is the same. Average texture. Pretty standard for a tripel, a little bland.

batch 1 22oz bottle. rich golden color with bright white head. really just all around classic belgium goodness. Aromas of spicy yeast, bubble gum and clove. Flowers in there to. The esters follow into the taste and really so clean and refreshing I may buy another for a warmer day.

From the 22 fl. oz. bottle labeled Batch no. 2 - bottled January 2012. The pour is a hazy pale yellow with an aggressive, long lasting foamy head. The aroma is a cornucopia of bread, malted grains, orange, pear, and coriander. The 10% ABV is not noted on the nose. The body is medium to heavy. The taste has a pungent bitterness at the end along with the same things you get on the nose. It warms up my insides.

Pours a cloudy golden/orange color. Aroma is of yeast, coriander, spices, orange, and malts. Flavor also has yeast, coriander, spices, and orange. I can taste some cloves and flowers also. Leaves a yeasty and spice finish.

22 oz bottle. Hazy orange/yellow pour. Creamy white head leaves a strong crown and film on top. Nose pof lemon, orange and light spice. Full bodied and a touch chewy. Carbonation is appropriately sharp, but not overpowering as other examples of the style can be. Mostly a sweet malt base, but touches of dry toast here and there. Lemon, orange, melon. Pepper and sharp spicy esters. Finishes with a lingering bitterness. Alcohol is actually a bit subdued for the style, but does show up in appropriate amounts as it warms. Complex and deep, but quaffable. Just a really solidly made example of the style. Does everything a tripel should, and does it well. Nothing not to like.

Pours a three finger white head that fades slowly leaving some lace. Almost clear pale amber color. Good carbonation and medium bodied. Belgian yeast and fruit nose, flavor is sweet spicy fruit and light Belgian yeast, the high ABV is hidden. Decent Belgian triple. Batch #2, bottled Jan 2012, $10.99 for a 22oz bottle from Julio’s Liquors Westborough, Ma.

On draft at the brew pub. Classic tripel style. Dark yellow color with a light white head. Nice belgian yeast esters.

22 oz bottled version. A deep golden brew with a slight orange hue. Decent head that goes to lacing. Strong fruity-spice aromas. Good malty backbone. Very smooth palate. Good sweetness, but not too much. Good balance. Doesn’t seem like 9.5%. Very tasty stuff!

This was the first Tripel I ever tried...back in the early 90s at the brewpub in Kendal Square on my lunch hour...Pours gold into a tulip. Bright white head with medium retention recedes leaving trailing sheets to coat surface. Sweet yeast and sour fruit aromas. Medium bodied with sweet and sour fruit upfront turning to marshmallow before the lasting tart citrus finish.
