Commercial Description:
Arriving in time to greet the new year is our deceptively efficacious Belgian strong ale. Golden-straw color, effervescent condition, and commingling flavors and aromas of curacao orange, coriander, yeasty fruit esters and phenols, a subtle malt base, and a warming, slightly hoppy finish. Served proudly in its own tulip-shaped glass, this perennial was the first Belgian-style beer produced in American craft-brewing history according to the beer Hunter, Michael Jackson. Don’t miss it! OG: 1.084 FG: 1.013 ABV: 9.5%

Art of Beer Festival 2004: Has a hazy orange color, carbonation and small white head. Smell is of spice/banana/citrus/clove/yeast. Taste is all of the above, full bodied and finishes sweet. Overall Tripels are becoming a favorite of mine.

Draft at EBF. Pours a cloudy golden body with a foam white head. Aroma is citrus orange, yeast spiciness and some sweet malt. Flavor has a slight etoh warming with a relatively thick mouthfeel. Interesting.

It’s good. Probably the creamiest tripel I have had - very silky, like a Chouffe. Orangepeel factors as does rich flour (I know) and tingly alcohol. Tap at the brewery.

Tap at brewpub. Pours a nice slightly hazy goledn- light copper with a frothy sticky white head and good lace. Aroma is phenolicy, spicy, typical westmalle yeastiness- although there is some bastogne fruity- almost orange zest quality yeast as well with a slight pepperiness. Flavor also has a douhgy yeasty pepper character, some more clove like phenolics, some westmalle doughy and dryness- a bit grassy. Good body and I like the relative dryness for a tripel.

Draft @ Kendall Square pub. Pale golden color. Points off for having no head at all, but it’s pretty effervescent. fruity, spicy and floral. Certainly true to the style, but not remarkable.
