15th July 2012 Opaque black beer, little pale tan head. Palate is a little crisp and quite dry. Minerals. Dry dark malt, a little roast, but not bitter. Tiny bit of citrus in the minerally semi dry and crisp finish. Not bad and I think my first Black Pils!

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Palme (2250) - Bergen, NORWAY - JUN 5, 2012
A 0.33l bottle (on a Thursday) - from beermerchants.com that pours a dark brown licorice-body that’s impossible to see light through, and it has a really good looking big and lasting beige almost creamy and lacing head. It smells light malty with tones of roasted malts and licorice. Not extreme in any way, but it’s something calming and quite relaxing about this aroma. Hard to describe properly, but I quite like it. There is also a touch of hops in the background here. It has a comfortable average small prickling carbonation level with a somewhat thin and almost watery texture. Flavors has that same gentle and calming thing found in the aroma. Light roasted with some watered down licorice and a mild hoppy sting. This was actually quite tasty here in the steaming May sun that has taken every Bergensere by surprise. Skål i sola Ola! 24.05.2012
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 RichardW (1155) - Carlisle, Cumbria, ENGLAND - JUN 4, 2012
bottle, beermerchants.com, as Black Friday. A heavy licquorice aroma, which is equally strong, and sweet, on the palate. Not as much smokiness as I expected and quite a grassy, fruity finish. Cherry and raspberry flavours are faint but noticeable. Pretty good.
