COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Keg & Bottle;
Helles and Pilsner combine – the pale, crisp body of Pils with the gentle hop profile of Helles. It’s pale gold, refined, elegant and dry. Soft biscuity malt, a light lemony, peppery hop character and the sort of bitterness which quenches and never overpowers. Matured for a long time in tank, it’s how a great lager should taste.

330ml bottle. Pours clear amber with a good white head. Looks good in the glass. Mild aroma with a slight metallic tint. Some sweetness, flavours of banana and tropical fruits with a touch of citrus. Very short finish. Could do with more at the back, but pretty good for a lager.

Bottle. Pour is blonde, aroma is malty, earthy, grassy. Taste is malty, grassy, earthy bitterness and honey sweetness towards the finish, well balanced. Very enjoyable lager

Tap. Decent golden pour with mild frothy head. Mild hops, mild bitterness... touch of grassiness and sharper hops remind you of the "hells"-ness, but certainly more a lager at heart. And a pretty good one.

(keg) clear golden colour with a frothy white head. aroma of floral hops, light pepper and powdered sugar, with a hint of yeast and chalk. flavour is mostly pale malts, straw and light powdered sugar, with notes of cardboard and yeast in the very light-bitter finish. medium-bodied with average carbonation.

Bottled 330ml. -at Drouthy’s Bar Glasgow. Yellow coloured, small white head, lively carbonation, slight grassy nose. Sweet malty, grassy, cereals and faint fruity with moderate bitterness in the finish. Boring beer.

Bottle from The Grumpy Goat, Reading. Pours very pale gold with a spartan white head and a thin but prickly fizz. On first taste it’s sweet, watery and fairly tasteless. Perseverance does pay off to a certain extant- it gets smoother and creamier and there’s a little lemon, some floral hops and some Kelloggs Frosties (other brands of sugar-coated soft corn are available). Somehow you can taste that quality ingredients have been used- someone who liked it may describe it as subtle and refined. On the other hand its all so subtle and gentle that others may describe it as inoffensive and bland. For myself I started off in the latter camp, feeling angry that I’d been ripped off with a craft price for a macro- style lager. However, the more I drank the more I moved into the "refined" camp, and my score gradually increased from 1.8 to 2.4 over the first half of a bottle. I wonder how much was drunk by the ratebeerians giving the highest scores for it? It’s crying out for a branded gold-rimmed glass. It’s certainly a beer to befuddle lovers of the 30ml "Scandinavian pint"... Near the end of the bottle now and there’s definitely custard cream biscuits. And sherbert. Score up to 2.7 at the end, how high would it go with s second bottle...!

Can. Straw coloured with a white head. Light hay pale malt aroma with a little pepper.. Very soft in mouth, not much sweetness. Clean with a dry but not very bitter finish. Little waft of herbs, lemon and pepper at the end. Decent, well-made beer.

Bottle. Clear yellow pour, thin almost non-existent white head. Little bit of cereal malt and some hops in the aroma. Taste is fairly similar, body is a little watery. Not bad per-say but a little weak.
