Keg at Blackfriars. Jet black, nice long-lasting beige head. Aromas are mostly chocolate with light roast notes. Taste is sweet, underlining the chocolate thing. Lacks body, even accounting for the strength. OK.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Appearancestors - opaque black with a nice fawn creamy head.
Nose - almost chocolate but not quite. Almost liquorice but not quite. Maybe a salted liquorice is a more accurate description.
Taste - more salted liquorice but something coffee and dark chocolate underneath.
Palate - medium bodied with a creamy texture and a long elegant dry finish.
Overall - interesting as it’s somewhere in the twilight between stout and porter and it does have that savoury edge.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Keg. Totally opaque with small thick tan head. Smell - yeasty, slight smoke to start. Later on I get hints of dry dogshit / bad breath and coffee bean. Maybe coffee breath. Body is quite thin but not foamy. Taste is watery, coins. Maybe a touch of smoke, slightly musty. Feel like I can taste alcohol despite the low ABV. Really not a lot going on but it’s not unpleasant.

Pours black like coal with a nice head that leaves after a bit. Smells like classic dry stout, a bit of coffee, some light hops, and smoke. A fire of smoke. The taste is pretty much the same, smokey dry stouty. I’d say like Guinness with smoked malts. Pretty good session beer!

Tap at CBC Brixton. I could have sworn I've rated this before. I haven't. Deep dark black/brown with some fine carbonation present. Nice toasty, coffee, smoky choc aroma. Light to medium body, a bit watery. Coffee in the main with a touch of treacle sweetness and some dark fruit. There is metal there too. It's just a bit wet and lacking. OK.
