3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Keg tap @ Parcel Yard, Kings Cross. Amber/copper with a bit of head that doesn’t stick around. Grass, wood and tropical fruit hop aroma. Taste is bitter and slightly sulphurous. Tasty enough, but not terribly original.

3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
People are fairly snobby about this in their ratings, but it’s fair to say that this pale ale - which is on the lager end of the scale - has almost single-handedly driven up the base standard for well-brewed beer across mainstream London pubs. It’s fizzy, it’s hoppy, it’s not very malty but it tastes perfectly fine, like a slightly inferior Brooklyn lager. Arguably there’s not a fantastic amount of subtlety, but there is a lovely golden colour from most kegs I’ve seen, and the high carbonation sustains throughout a pint. It’s a safe but ultimately good beer for the part time beer afficionado. And I mean that in a good way.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tap at Draft House Battersea. Pours hazy orange with a small white head. Nothing amazingly different here, just a fairly bitter and in your face pale which goes down a treat. Bitterness is very pleasing. Nice stuff
