James and Pete paired up for Gentleman’s Wit (4.3% ABV). The inspiration, other than loving the zesty spiciness of wit, lies somewhere between a plate of lemon meringue pie and a cup of Earl Grey tea. James roasted 20 lemons covered in bergamot for 20 hours until they were juicy, fragrant, caramelised and sharp. The beer was made with a classic recipe and yeast strain with the lemons bombing into the whirlpool at the end of the brew.
It’s turned out as one of the most incredible beers we’ve brewed. The colour is as beautiful as a beer can get: a hazy, unfiltered warm pastel yellow. The lemon and bergamot poke through the aroma, a hint of sharpness cuts through the middle, it’s dry and interesting and quenching and a dry, phenolic spice ends the mouthful like a full stop ends a sentence.

330ml bottle. Pale golden colour, thin white head that dissipates away and aroma of wheat, banana, lemon, yeast. Taste is earthy wheaty with lemon citrus and spicy belgium yeast notes. Light bodied, high carbonated, dry finish. Quite drinkable.

Keg at cask p and k. Hazy creamy yellow with small ring of white head. Aroma is light and spicy/peppery with hint of banana and citrus. Taste is more estery up front, banana, with a little lemon and light pepperyness. Dry and refreshing. Nice.

Very light and refreshing with a good lemon taste. Overall though I’d vote for a strong citra hopped IPA over this.

@ Röhällavägen. Flaska från Systembolaget (24:-). Gul/gyllene till färgen. Kryddig doft och smak, mycket citrustoner, jäst, vetesyrlig, lätt kropp.

Soooo good in 30 degree heat in Camden! Great cloudy yellow colour looks like lemon meringue pie. Far too easy to drink. Citrus flavours without the acidity. Small hints of bergamot. Tiniest hint of bubblegm. Finishes quite hearty wheat. Just what I wanted on the day.

Flaska. Lätt dimmig guldfärgad öl med ett vitt snart försvinnande skum. Doften är en citronbomb, där också örter och gräs hittar utrymme. Citronen är klart dominerande även i smaken, med inslag av torr te-känsla och örter. Tunn kropp. Kolsyrig munkänsla.

A great example of the style. Dark orange body, lovely floral and citrus aroma. Very flavourful. Really good.

Bottle, 33cl - Semi hazy golden blond beer with a small head. Aroma is spicy with notes of wheat, citrus, lemons, bergamot, tea and yeasty phenolic spicyness. Flavor is fresh with notes of lemons, bergamot, wheat and spices. Highly drinkable with a nice bite at the end.
