Camden Pale Ale Style: American-style Pale Ale ABV: 4.0% IBU: 40 Malt: Pale Ale, Cara, Munich and Wheat Hops: Cascade, Columbus, Amarillo, Centennial, Simcoe, Calypso and Citra (BOOM!) Available: 30 litre kegs and 330ml bottles The story: Inspired by outrageously hop-heavy American craft brews, we wanted to brew one of our own, only at a lower, massively-drinkable ABV. It’s our UK spin on an American classic. The taste: Punchy American hops throw out a big aroma of grapefruit, orange and tropical fruit. It’s a bright orange-gold colour. The body is subtle and clean and a golden platter for carrying the hops. The bitterness rolls in and then ends dry, making you thirsty for another gulp.

330ml bottle from ales by mail. BB May 2015. Slight white head which cleared in seconds. Poured a clear golden orange colour. Aroma is hops, tropical fruit and caramel. Taste is a bit weak and watery with a dry, slightly spicy finish on the palate. Lacks on flavour. Wasn't enjoyable to be honest.

Beer is clearly filtered. Low head. Aroma is not really anything to write home about. Low amounts of american hops hides behind the bready malt. Kinda boring flavor as well with some slight spicyness. A good beer, but nothing amazing. Best before 23/08-15.

Light golden color, white head. Citrus nose, light tropical fruit, hints of malt and grass. Grapefruit and resin taste, caramel, hint of salt and grass, light bitterness. Light body, soft carbonation. Quite good considering the low abv.

330ml bottle at home, from Drygate, Glasgow - clear amber, a few rising bubbles, thin bubbly white head, grapefruit, tropical fruits aroma, high carbonation, citrus and tropical fruits flavours to the fore, good balance between the malt and hops, dry, bitter finish

Bottle shared with Djoye and Rune. Low fluffy and quickly disappearing white head. Clear yellow golden body. Weak malt grass aroma. Heavily carbonated malt straw flavor with citrus hints. Fair amount of hops bitterness. Short finish.

Bottle at Bill’s, Brighton. Amber/golden with a medium white soapy head. Light to medium body with moderate carbonation. Nice sweet and bitter tones. Malts, citrus, caramel, some grapefruit and herbs. A decent pale ale.

Bottle at the Fisherman’s Cottage, Reading. Pale gold with a thin white head. Rather thin, almost watery mouthfeel. The taste, too, is a little insipid at first, but eventually gets its act together to present a pleasant, if mild, lemon and grass flavour. The crisp, clean, refreshing finish makes up for a lot, but really it’s a little disappointing overall.

330ml bottle. Near-clear golden coloured body. Pearl white head. Mid-dry fruity hops on the nose. Blended taste of fresh fruity hops and juicy malts. Bittersweet endnotes. Soft carbonated. Above thin bodied. Satisfying session beer (shared with djoeye and Skinnyviking, Tromsø 16.01.2015).

Near clear golden beer with pearl white head. Aroma; hops, pine, kiwi, strawberry, spruce forest. Taste; pale malts, hops, fresh pine cones, straw - leading to a fine fresh pale finish. Fresh clean normal on palate. Overall ok. [33cl brown btl 4.0%abv° BB02.01.15 B@K Skanssi Turku FI T@SessionInTromsoe]
