Camden Pale Ale Style: American-style Pale Ale ABV: 4.0% IBU: 40 Malt: Pale Ale, Cara, Munich and Wheat Hops: Cascade, Columbus, Amarillo, Centennial, Simcoe, Calypso and Citra (BOOM!) Available: 30 litre kegs and 330ml bottles The story: Inspired by outrageously hop-heavy American craft brews, we wanted to brew one of our own, only at a lower, massively-drinkable ABV. It’s our UK spin on an American classic. The taste: Punchy American hops throw out a big aroma of grapefruit, orange and tropical fruit. It’s a bright orange-gold colour. The body is subtle and clean and a golden platter for carrying the hops. The bitterness rolls in and then ends dry, making you thirsty for another gulp.

UPDATED: MAY 17, 2014 On the lager side of pale ale. Not bad but not much depth of flavour. Decent, not brilliant.

I think "boom" is going a bit far. Hops are a bit subdued but add citrus to what is a malt led APA. Amber, clear, decent head.

Bottle at Heathrow. Clear golden orange. Frothy white head. Pine hops and tropical fruity hops. Bit of sweetness up front with a nice dry finish.

Bottle, 330ml. A golden colour with a small white head. A floral hop aroma. Flavour is more floral hops, some sweetness, a little malt in the finish. Moderate carbonation. I like this.

Pours an amber body with a thin head. Plain hoppy aroma. Taste is nice and hoppy with a well balanced bitterness.

It smells like it might be nice, a touch of fruits. Tastes like a watered down good beer mixed with lager and topped with sparkling water. A watery texture. Probably make a good shandy.

Flaska från SB. Kristallklar, bärnstensfärgad vätska med fingerhögt vitt skum. Frisk doft med en del citrus och fruktighet. Även lite kex. Lätt kropp, aningen torr. Ganska lätt i smaken. Typ som doften, lite lätt syrlig och med ett lätt humlebett i avslutningen. Helt ok.

Pours a light gold with a thin white head. Aroma of mild fruits, weak hops. Flavour is much the same but a bit thin. Didn’t enjoy this.

330ml bottle from Waitrose. Pours light amber, clear with tiny bubbles. Transient head of watery off-white. Aroma of pine, resin, maple syrup and as expected from the style very hop forward. Good example of an American pale ale, well carbonated and with good bitterness. Doesn’t quite have the crispness that makes others in this style amazing, but a good beer nonetheless. Oily mouthfeel with citrus aftertaste.

330ml # . I had this at a trendy restaurant where they serve beer in frosted glasses ,and the waitress have names like Felicity. My cousin Dan was over for a few days at Easter , he got Stella as he’s unsophisticated. I wasn’t sure if I’d had this beer ,but took a punt , and fuck u it’s a new tick. Lots of cascade up front ,and a citrusy flavour. A good malt backbone is evident . A nice beer, but lacking the moreish character I like in American APA "";/(’

330ml bottle at home in Richmond as ’Camden Town Pale Ale’, 4.0%, BB Sep 2016. Thanks to work colleagues for gifting me this. Dark amber, totally clear, highly sparkling, dense creamy head leaves full lacing. Aroma is floral hops and toffee, football, rubber, wafer with some mint. Body is smooth with tingly carbonation. Taste is metal-forward, floral notes, pine. Crisp and well-made without a doubt. Too much metal though.
