A near black, with frothy mocha head. Aroma is chocolate, raisins and light coffee. Flavour is more raisins, vanilla, chocolate, liquorice. Well bodied and easy on its way down.

Pours a very deep ruby with a brown head. Aroma of toasted malt, chocolate, liquorice. Full bodied with some initial sweetness from the malts nicely balanced with bitter burnt notes. Rich dark fruits and almost port flavours linger on the palate.

330ml bottle. Pours very dark brown with a large head. Aroma is raisin malt with hints of smoke and ham. Taste has caramel to start with a smoky finish.

Aroma: Wet hay, milk chocolate and herbs.
Appearance: Very dark brown body with a medium beige head that holds well. Excellent carbonation.
Taste: Chocolate ice-cream, coffee, dark fruits, toffee and roasted malt. No hint of its 7.0% ABV - very smooth and drinkable.
Palate: Thin to medium body with a slick, oily texture. Soft carbonation fizz.
Overall: Really well balanced and flavoursome. Incredibly drinkable for its strength.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines; dark brown pour with big off white head, whispy smokey malt aroma, sweet roast malt taste, bitter some dark fruit vanilla, shoe leather delightful although I’d expect more from these two.

Bottle at Inn Deep. It pours deep ruby with a large beige head. The nose is roasty, earth, liquorice, ink, pepper, dark chocolate, coffee and sweet plum. The taste is roasty, earth, toast, brown sugar, plum, date, decent bitterness, liquorice, cocoa, coffee and a touch of alcohol with a bitter, roasty finish. Medium+ body and moderate carbonation. Smooth, well-integrated and rather drinkable. Rather good indeed.

Keg in Drafthouse Northcote. Opaque very dark brown, medium foamy tan head. Nose is earthy, milk chocolate, liqorice, salty, caramel, ale fruity. Taste is salty, sweet malt, tangy, earthy, chocolate, roasted malt, with a liquorice or molassses tang.

Bottle shared with Jonny. Dark reddish-brown, thin off-white had. Toasty biscuit malts, nice red fruits, lightest roast. Nice sweet chocolate malts, nutty malts, red fruits. Prickly carbonation, soft bittersweet malt finish. Really good.
