Keg at Camden Town Tap Room - London. Pours clear, red-brown with a moderate, creamy beige head. The aroma holds some toasty, bready malts and burnt caramel. Medium sweet flavor with mild roast, more toasty bread, some bitter earth, sugary dark malts, suggestions of the alcohol. Medium bodied with average, creamy carbonation. Lightly warming to finish with plenty of sugary drk malts, some earthy bitterness, burnt leaves, milk chocolate, dark bread. Very tasty, well balanced stuff.

Bottle at Inn Deep. It pours deep ruby with a large beige head. The nose is roasty, earth, liquorice, ink, pepper, dark chocolate, coffee and sweet plum. The taste is roasty, earth, toast, brown sugar, plum, date, decent bitterness, liquorice, cocoa, coffee and a touch of alcohol with a bitter, roasty finish. Medium+ body and moderate carbonation. Smooth, well-integrated and rather drinkable. Rather good indeed.

330ml bottle. Pours a very dark brown, with almost a greenish tinge, and a beige head. Malty, spicy aroma, chocolate, licorice, caramel, hops, fudge, coffee beans, and a somewhat herbal note. Off-dry, medium to full bodied, mid bitterness, creamy CO2. Malty, quite roasted taste, chocolate, caramel, licorice, earth, coffee, tar, faint smoke, hops. Very smooth, really high drinkability, and a nice, dry finish. Lovely. (2013-10-01)

Lively and bitter, good roasty flavors, little tart perhaps, and also a sweet bready yeast. I liked this, specially the ash finish.

(Bottle) Dark brown colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of dark chocolate, dark bread, tobacco, caramel and roasted grain. Malty, roasted taste with dark chocolate, milky coffee, caramel, roasted grain and a balanced cacao bitterness in the finish. More than medium body, soft and rounded mouthfeel. A certain sweetness, that dries out towards the end. Tasty and well made porter. Very nice.
