Wonderfully spicy aroma of clove and cardamom, with some resiny hops around the edge. Flavour follows the aroma very closely, with hops building in the finish. Very nice. mabel (2626), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Super ginger aroma when still, cloves when jostled, and some orange hops. Murky, dark orange brown body with a long-lasting foamy off-white head and thick foamy lacing. Lots of cloves and orange hops in the flavour with a little ginger. Medium body. Nice muted spices that could be overpowering but isn’t.

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 13, 2008 2008-10-26. Murky dark amber brown body with a large beige head that lasts a long time. (3+) Massive clove aroma, touch of nutmeg, but thats probably just more clove that my brain has wrongly identified. (6+) Flavour is also clove dominant, light muddled character of other spices, very light presence of the underlying beer. Average plus bodied palate is smooth. Its rather good in its way, really cool experience but it is overpoweringly clovey. Im curious to know if it was intentional or a result of an extended time in the cask. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Nov 17, 2008 Cask. At Volo Cask Days 2008. Murky deep orange pour with a huge fluffy head and lovely thick lacing - extra rinsing was required after this double sample. Had a huge pungently bitter aroma, funky clove/black pepper melange, mild malt backing. the taste started out a little soapy and clove-dominated, but settled down to spicy pepper and dry hop bitterness over very mild standard malt. Average body but very heavy astringency, yielding a long pungent spicy finish - very interesting, and while good, I would like to have seen a little more restraint to the addition of the cloves, and perhaps a tad more malt in the body. tomthompson89 (1494), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Still nice. Sammy (4070), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 26, 2008 Cask Days at Bar Volo 2008, extended version, original title given to another beer-this was definately the extreme cloves. This took a while to stop exploding and calm down, for me to be the first to review. Spicey clove aroma. There is a natural carbonation from it, it is cloudy grapefruit with yeast generated white head fluffed on. There is a medium mouthfeel, but it is soft, with the yeast adding a mouth cottoness at the finish. Light bitterness.
