2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
sample pack lcbo craft brewers discovery. 341ml bottle pours a very dark brown opaque with a small lingering head. Aroma I get bread, roast nuts hint of coffee. Body is smooth/creamy with lively carbonation with a slight bitter finish. Not as complex as I thought would be, and very light overall, sort of a disappointment as I was expecting more. Overall though an ok dark lager.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
341 mL bottle from the LCBO, served in a stem glass. Pours black with a tall, frothy tan head that fades slowly and laces well. The nose has notes of roasted malts, molasses, anise, grass, herbal hops and a hint of smoke. The flavour is balanced, slightly sweet and slightly hoppy with big herbal notes, roast malts and some molasses. The finish is medium in length, herbal and roasty. On the palate, it is light-medium in body, with a watery texture and average carbonation. Overall, this is a decent dark lager with a surprisingly light body. It is well brewed, but not the most complex. 2013-05-17
