Pours a real dark brown colour with little copper highlights. Big beige creamy head that stays a long time and leave good dirty lace. Aromas of dark fruits, roasted malts, molasses and the light rum blending in with the fruits. Roasted malt flavours with a sharp bite from the hops and nice burnt wood that lingers. Hints of coffee over the chocolate. Wow ! This is quite good !!

Negro opaco y espuma beis compacta. Aromas de chocolate, café, vainilla, melaza, ron. Cuerpo denso, inicio dulce de melaza y chocolate, con intenso sabor de tostado que llega hasta un final intensamente amargo ligeramente astringente y trago cálido.

65cl bottle, served in tulip. Pours opaque black with a nice light brown head. Aroma is a blend of chocolate and rum, just as the flavour is but with some coffee added. Rum sweetness on the palate along with some bitterness. Full bodied, perfect carbonation. I was expecting a sweet bomb but, fortunately, it is so well balanced. Great beer.

Poured from a bomber into a snifter darkest of dark with a tan head--looking like a planet through a telescope.
Aroma is RUM then cocoa dry. Slight vanilla.
Flavor is chocolate and slight rum. Caramelized barley roasted subtly.Bitter finish?
Smooth to the palate an unexpected beauty.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
22 ounce bottle into snifter, bottled on 6/3/2013. Pours fairly pitch black color with a 2 finger dense and rocky tan head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, molasses, toast, dark bread, licorice, raisin, plum, fig, vanilla, toffee, oak, light smoke/char, light spiced rum, and roast/yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt, fruity yeast, and moderate rum barrel notes; with good strength. Taste of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, molasses, toast, dark bread, licorice, raisin, plum, fig, vanilla, toffee, oak, light smoke/char, light spiced rum, and roast/yeast earthiness. Good amount of roast/char bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, molasses, toast, dark bread, licorice, raisin, plum, fig, vanilla, toffee, oak, light smoke/char, and roasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice robustness, balance, complexity of dark/roast/bready malt, fruity yeast, and moderate rum barrel flavors; with a good roasted bitterness/sweetness balance and no cloying flavors after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a very smooth, creamy, and lightly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent barrel aged imperial porter. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, fruity yeast, and moderate rum barrel flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the big ABV. A very enjoyable offering.
