Cask conditioned handpump White Horse London 23/11/12. A ruby coloured beer with a whitish head. A malty Irish ale type beer. A dry and slightly toasty nose. It’s the same in the mouth. It’s dull and really old fashioned.

Cask by gravity at Drum and Monkey Ale Festival - clear brown ale, thin white head, fruity malty aroma and flavour, hint of apple, easy to drink

On cask @ the Haymarket. Pours a dark amber with a nicely proportioned head. The nose has apples, toffee and a backbone of biscuits. The taste is more grapes and biscuits. The palate is medium bodied with a creamy texture and a relatively refreshing finish. Overall, a decent bitter.

Cask at The White Hart, Nicholson’s, London. Pours clear, red-gold with a fine, creamy white head. Tangy leaves in the nose. Light sweet flavor, some toasty dough, plenty of citric and leafy bitterness, light grass. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Surprsingly sturdy bitterness to finish, with more bready, doughy malts, lots of tangy leaves. Tastes kind of cheap, and it really doesn’t bring me much joy to drink this beer.

Tried this in the Aragon Bar, Glasgow in March 2006. Cask, handpump dispense. Clear ruby red in colour with a thin creamy white head. Slight berry fruit in the short aroma. Thin zingy mouthfeel and good lacing. Pale malts give a fiery malt base with tart redcurrant fruit. Strong metallic notes in the bitter aftertaste along with hard water salts give an astringent rusty flavour. Finish is woody with hints of dry vanilla oak cask. An ok session bitter, but much prefer the Winter Tipple though.
