3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 SilkTork (4736) - Rochester, Kent, United Kingdom, - MAY 15, 2003
UPDATED: MAR 31, 2006 May, 2003 <a href=http://www.beerintheevening.com/pubs/s/88/880 Inn, Canterbury. Cameron’s have had a long history of take overs since they started back in 1872. Ellerman’s, Barclay’s, Brent Walker, and Wolverhampton & Dudley have all at one time been in control of the Lion Brewery. Since 2001, however, Cameron’s have been under the control of Castle Eden. This ruby red ale is rich, full flavoured and nicely balanced with a firm nutty mouthfeel. Hints of strength come in the finish with a spreading hop flavoured warmth. Decent enough and very satisfying. [2.6]
June, 2005. Station Tavern, Grosmont, Yorkshire. Nutty and fruity with a damp woods quality. [3.0]
March, 2006 <a href=http://www.beerintheevening.com/pubs/s/27/270 Arms, Rochester Served in excellent condition this came over as a pleasantly malty ale with nutty notes and just enough soaked hops to provide good balance but not to intrude. Enjoyable, [3.3]

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 tombyars (1102) - Saltcoats, SCOTLAND - OCT 14, 2011
Tried this in the Aragon Bar, Glasgow in March 2006. Cask, handpump dispense. Clear ruby red in colour with a thin creamy white head. Slight berry fruit in the short aroma. Thin zingy mouthfeel and good lacing. Pale malts give a fiery malt base with tart redcurrant fruit. Strong metallic notes in the bitter aftertaste along with hard water salts give an astringent rusty flavour. Finish is woody with hints of dry vanilla oak cask. An ok session bitter, but much prefer the Winter Tipple though.
