Cask pint from the lescar, Sheffield. Dark reddish brown, with no head. Smell of burnt toast. Taste is much better, roasted malts and a hint of sweet treacle. Unexpected bitter aftertaste too. A bit thin but as a result it is more drinkable.

Cask at The Old Wellington, Manchester. A deep brown colour with a thin tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, earth, some sour lactose and subtle liquorice. Taste of roasted malts, earth, some sour lactose, slight coffee, a little dark fruits and subtle liquorice. Light bodied and soft carbonation. A slightly sour, dark fruit, earthy bitterness in the finish. Isnít very sweet, more sour than anything. Unappealing earth and dark fruit flavour too. Below average.

Cask halfpint at the Argyll Arms. Black colour, minimal beige head. Nice aroma of chocolate, hints of mild coffee. Smooth mouthfeel. Smooth flavour too, some lactic sweetness, but not too much. Chocolate and mild coffee again, moderate hops in the finish.

Pleasant milky roasty aroma. Very dark reddy brown, decent light persistent tight head. Impressive aroma for a sparkler, to be honest. Lovely rich malty and roasty palate and taste. An easy drinker, but nicely full flavoured. Often not a fan of milk stouts, but this has pressed my buttons.

Cask at the Woodmans Rest, Shirley, Solihull. Poured a clear dark brown with a frothy light tan head. The aroma is creamy caramel sweet malt. The flavour is medium bitter light sweet with an earthy mineral malt light medicinal palate. A decent stout but I expected more sweetness and I suspect the keg was coming to the end of its life.

Cask @ Ship Ashore, Willen. Dark brown with a quickly dissipating beige head. Coffee, crystal malt and black pepper. Taste is burnt espresso bitter with a bitter finish and finish. Unwelcome bitter/sour aftertaste. Watery palette. Iím not crazy about this, as much as I want to support Cameronís in their new beers.

Smells quite vinegary. May be the end of the barrel. Checked with the bar staff but they said that's the way it tastes lovely dark colour. Smells and tastes like a mouldy beer cellar. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Cask at St George and Dragon, 26th May 14. Not bad, slightly sweet, some chocolate, a little milk. Fairly simple, OK
