3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 ronaldtheriot (446) - Laplace, USA - AUG 3, 2009
This very harsh brew gets tastier as one drinks more of it. It has a strong alcohol smell and a golden appearance with a tolerable head. The flavor is strongly alcoholic and harsh. Camo Black Ice is stinging in the mouth and tough to take at first. However, by the time I was about half way through the 24 oz. can (poured in a pint glass), I began to enjoy it. I prefer milder beers for daily drinking, but this would be something to have from time to time. I felt woozy for about three to four hours after drinking this. It’s rough.

My 12 year old Golden Retriever wouldn’t even drink this. He eats cardboard, matchsticks, light bulbs, soap, and drywall, but he wouldn’t drink this. I thought he was stupid, but maybe I was wrong.

The can itself looks like it’s ready to beat the shit out you. The Camo Black Ice gets my nod as the greatest example of this style since the Silver Ice and the Evil Eye. The deep, saturated goat urine-colored malt boasts an extraordinary perfume of kerosene intermixed with burned hair, swiss cheese, damp moose, corn, New York subway, and wet ashtray. A classic, full-bodied palate possesses massive structure, horrifying depth, loads of hobo, and a multilayered, concentrated yet painful finish. It is difficult to predict when this beauty will plateau in terms of maturity. Drinking this on a regular basis will probably give you cancer. Not one of my favorite high-gravity malts, but it is what it is.

I don’t mind the taste of this. It tastes extremely artificial but leaves an aftertaste of champagne. Plus 10.5% ALC/VOL :D

A little swill and chill on the RBSG bus. Pale golden amber pour. the nose is sweet and quite dirty. Thick palate but I’ve had a whole lot worse than this.

Can shared by Joe mcphee on the summer gathering bus. Gross malt liquor. corn and boozey, caramel sweetness, terrible balance. Arouma is oxidized appled.

Can on the bus during RBSG as we went from Dark Horse to Bells. This fiendish treat was courtesy of the nefarious Joe McPhee. Pours a clear yellow gold with a thin white head. Smells like those orange circus peanuts and apples. Tastes of sweet corn, with some light alcohol present. Warm, toast and sweetness. Finishes with a light bitterness and some sweet apple. Really though this would be far worse.

Can on the RBSG Bus. May a plague of locusts torment whomsoever it was that inflicted this upon us. Pours clear yellow, big foamy head, no lacing to speak of. Smells like bananas and a chemistry experiment gone horribly awry. Tastes like the lamentation of my tastebuds. Less horrible than Molson Canadian and Rani Lager, so bonus points there!

24oz can on RBSG bus. Nasty phenolic banana. Grainy. Vomity. Harsher than hell.
1 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 3/20 fidelis83 (1354) - Clinton, Iowa, USA - JUN 8, 2010
Pours a very clearpale amber with a thin white head that fades to a ring quickly and holds. Aroma is overripe fruit, solvents, fusel, lots of Pla Doh, and sweet fermenting corn. Flavor is suprisingly weak-probably a good thing for a high gravity malt liquor, corn, alcohol, sweet overripe fruit, like fruit salad made of stuff that was almost starting to rot, lettuce, generic cough drops, luckily all very faint. Palate is medium to heavy body, oily and dry at the same time and has a light, but sharp carbonation. Not very good at all, really not very good. Gross. Edit: I forgot to mention that it probably would have scored quite a bit higher (compared to the "1" I gave it anyway) if it hadn’t made me shudder upon my first drink, and given me near instantaneous gut rot.
